I rec'd my sample packet of EZComplete and started this afternoon with 1/2 tsp of raw ground turkey. I put it right on top of his food and he gobbled that up first. In fact - the second I opened the ground turkey and started mixing it up he was meowing at me to hurry up. I hope his civvie sister Marley takes to this transition just as well. Paws crossed. :cat:

Yeah I started too late and now at 18 and 19 it is a lost cause--they are weird they don't even like meat:confused:
Lol. Yea at 18-19 as long as they're eating right? My guys are around 10 and they've been pretty good eaters in terms of switching up brands of wet. Thankfully!! Our civvie Sammy who passed last November at 19 was very finicky his whole life. The last couple years were FF all the way for him.

Update: Both kitties (1 diabetic/Jimmy and 1 civvie) are eating at least one meal of 100% raw, with 1/2-1 ounce raw in between meals as a snack (more so for Jimmy). I marked when I started the transition on Jimmy's SS and can see more consistent numbers when looking at the bigger picture (including longer time frames of uner 100). I am still on the first protein of ground turkey - using both white and dark meat. They absolutely gobble it up. When giving them the 100% raw meal nothing is left on the plate - no dregs, nothing. Only when it's mixed with commercial wet are there bits of crumbs left. Due to Jimmy's (chronic) constipation the next protein I will introduce will be higher in fat and be be either pork or lamb.

Jimmy has a vet appt tomorrow - for the first time since he was diagnosed in April. I'm assuming she will drew blood and get a urine sample. I'm hoping the vet has some insight as to his constipation (constant use of miralax or lactulose is not a solution). I'm bringing in a stool sample should she need it. He's always had an issue - but I believe the insulin isn't helping matters and it's more frequent. She (the vet) of course suggests using a pet meter - but that's not gonna happen. I told her maybe I would purchase as a back up meter. But I test too frequently and those strips are expensive. She also brought up the pros and cons of raw feeding. To which I responded I understand. That said - how can a species appropriate diet be "bad" for him? It's not like if I didn't rescue him he'd be ordering online with Chewy.com or stopping in at Petco to pick up a few cans. So I'm not getting sucked in to any Hill's or Prescription wet or dry food.

She is aware of this board and actually has the link on clinic website - so I'm not expecting too much push back about how I'm managing Jimmy's diabetes. The proof of his success can clearly be seen on his spreadsheet. Paws crossed (or uncrossed in this case) that we can get Jimmy a little more regular :cat: and get him earning some reductions soon.
