Re: 7/9 Rusty AMPS 146, PMPS 196
Hi again and thanks for the visits,
I think Rusty was at least blue all day and that he probably had a green in there. PMPS is food-influenced because he saved his lunch and ate it when we got home, 1/2 hour before PMPS. He was happy to see us and we all spent some time sitting outdoors in the heat and humidity with thunder rolling around, but no rain.
We were lucky on the paddle. Although we drove through a few downpours, we had no rain on the paddle. The carries (portages) were not so bad. The first one (on a road through a public campsite) was a mile and the second one (on a trail, but no steep hills) was a mile and a quarter. We paddled two lakes (7th and 8th Lakes) and a river/wetland known as Brown's Tract. Brown's Tract was beautiful: twisting and turning through channels of high grasses, waterlillies, wild roses, cattails, alders, etc.. I've never seen so many white waterlillies--it was like a carpet of waterlillies. I didn't have time to take many pictures because I was paddling. There were so many turns that you couldn't see the paddler in front of you and it was like being alone with the water and the flora. It was a great day. Now we are tired. Tomorrow morning I'm leaving the house at 8 A.M. to climb Scarface Mt. I must be crazy, but I want that patch for climbing all 6 of the mountains close to Saranac Lake. After Friday (when we will climb the one we had to turn back on last week), there is only 1 mountain to go!!
Got to go chill out now. bbl,
Ella & Rusty
