Yuck, I'm getting tired of seeing these black preshot numbers. We're definitely hitting yellow and perhaps blue that I don't see at nadir, so not terrible but soon I will have to reassess and see if I need to increase again. The slightly-higher-carb-low-carb may be preventing sharp drops to green, but may also be inflating numbers overall?

However, I want to take the opportunity of cutting back Papaya's food a little since she's gained quite a bit of weight back, and I'd rather experiment with that now before an increase. When she was diagnosed with diabetes she was down to nearly 6 kg, and initially with treatment was slowly gaining. At the beginning she was eating 3 cans a day of Fancy Feast. I cut that back to more like 2-1/2 cans (unless she's diving low, in which case she gets whatever she needs!) but at the vet's last time she's right back up to 7 kg. Goodness knows she could stand to gain some muscle in those scrawny little legs, but this is more like belly padding  The vet realized it's good she's gaining since she's obviously using the food better, but she's really too "fluffy" and I know it's better for diabetes if they're not overweight. So I am going to reduce portions a bit more and see if that affects numbers before I consider changing dose again. Sound reasonable?

Other than the numbers she seems pretty good, doing lots of stretching and clawing at rugs and the back of the couch as she sits there! She played quite energetically last night with a mint-stuffed bit of cloth on a string. She doesn't get excited about catnip, but mint and basil, oh boy!

Have a good day, everyone.
