Numbers are definitely better after the dose increase. I hope she doesn't crash or bounce. Stress levels are cumulatively high these days with frequent vet visits, fasting, invasive, even painful tests, lots of scary things happening for Jessi....at home she is constantly looking over her shoulder, cowering, ready to run away from me.

With those ongoing conditions, I guess an increase was to be expected.

It was hard to dose such a small increase, but well worth it to see those numbers go down a bit.

Of course, I know how inaccurate the sensor can be. We were making some real progress with BG testing, even though none of them gave me a read, but now that I have to change her dressing and bandages multiple times a day and these cause her so much stress, I may have to put off BG practice testing for now.

It's hard enough to get her to stand still for the dressing change. An ear prick could send her over the edge in the state she's in right now. She is seriously traumatized and it's taking its toll on her health. When they put the sensor on this time, she jumped and reacted so badly. She only reacts that way from sudden pain or extreme fear. There is no way it was just from the noise of the click. It must have hurt. Maybe because when they shaved the area they nicked the skin a little, or because they hit something sensitive under the skin. I will have to take care of this process myself too if I want it done well, it seems. More learning and practicing to do.

It's a vicious cycle, isn't it? We need to get them the medical care they need, but the experience itself can be so stressful it can undermine getting better and even create more health problems. And we just have to pray that soon we will hit a smooth patch where BGs can get better regulated, strength increase, wellbeing improve significantly, visits to the vet decrease drastically and Jessi can start to feel and be more herself again.

She is a bit zombied out these days. It makes me sad. :(

It's impossible to know if everything that is being done which is so stressful for her will actually be worth it in the end. But the alternative at this point, is worse, so, I keep moving ahead with it.

Will post more BGs soon, hopefully tonight will be mellow in blues so we can take it easy and rest a little.

I appreciate your support and guidance as always!

Good to see that long stretch of blues. The higher BGs must not have felt great - especially since her body would have gotten used to lower numbers.

Yes, so good! Phew, what a relief. Just trying to keep them moderate for now, feeding the curve. She is definitely showing signs of feeling better at these levels. I think this is her new normal, mid to high 100s, anything lower and she still feels funky.

BGs went up right after I changed the dressing, which was soon after food and shot. Food could have made them go up a little too, but the dressing change definitely plays an important role. I hope she will get used to it and settle down, but as long as she is still upset by it, the extra insulin helps a lot!

Thanks for your support and guidance Bhooma!

Lovely blues yesterday! I think you’re due for some greens now :D

Stress levels are cumulatively high these days with frequent vet visits, fasting, invasive, even painful tests, lots of scary things happening for Jessi....at home she is constantly looking over her shoulder, cowering, ready to run away from me.
I read your update on Jessi’s trip to the vet. Sounded hectic :(
I hope Jessi feels a little better soon. It sucks that she’s feeling scared at home too.

Now that you’ve got the sensor back again, you can go a bit slower on practising the ear pricks till Jessi feels at home and relaxed again. Hopefully the sensor lasts its full 2 weeks this time too.

It's impossible to know if everything that is being done which is so stressful for her will actually be worth it in the end. But the alternative at this point, is worse, so, I keep moving ahead with it.
I hope once the SCC is taken care of, you’ll be able to see visible signs of improvement in Jessi, the way you can see when she’s in lower BGs with insulin.
Since you’re there with Jessi, I think you can tell whether putting her through this stress will be worth it. You would have known or Jessi herself would have shown you if it wasn’t worth trying.
I know it’s hard to be optimistic when your kitty seems low. And it also sucks to have to manage multiple issues at the same time.
I hope Jessi shows you some of her feistiness again soon.

Don’t forget to give yourself some breaks too :bighug:
The yellows and pinks were good for naps, I hope you took some :)

Thank you Nimi, your words are so soothing, understanding and encouraging! I was moved. I truly appreciate you. :bighug:

Everything you said makes sense and I hear it. Big yes to taking breaks! That doesn't always take the form of sleep unfortunately, but some of that happens too.

Just one thing, did you have to mention we were due for greens? you pretty much called it! :arghh: I was so hoping for more stretches of blues to float comfortably on for now...oh well, that's the BG roller coaster for you, ey?:nailbiting:;):p

check my new thread for BG updates coming soon, and you'll see what I mean.

it's ok, it looks like it was a very little dip. I just hope her body understands that! No bouncing please!
