Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

The Late Condo Queen returns!!! Long day today, and much to think about. Cinco had his Dermatology follow up appointment today. They were running behind, so we were there quite a while. He was mostly good, but when the student went to examine his back end, he almost bit her!! He's never done that before. I've noticed he's been more and more sensitive to having his hind quarters touched. I talked to the Dermatologist about it, and she agreed when I asked if I should take him to see his regular vet to have it looked into. We were thinking arthritis, but after @Amy&TrixieCat and @tiffmaxee shared some thoughts this morning on yesterday's condo, I'm wondering if it has to do with his loose poos and straining to go. I did go ahead and give him some Tramadol when we got home, but if he's constipated, won't that make it worse? Right now I'm thinking I'll start him on Miralax, and continue the Tramadol through the weekend. If things aren't better by Monday, I'll call and see about getting him in to see Dr. Davis. Thoughts?

Last night was his last dose of the AB, so I'm hoping his BGs will start to come down soon. I really don't want to go back to .75 so soon, especially since it dropped him into the 30s. BTW, the Dermatologist said he looked good and she doesn't need to see him again unless he develops more hotspots. We're going to keep him on the Zyrtec with the theory that they were allergy-related.

I awoke from my dream this morning. :( Minka only ate half her breakfast, and a little baby food with her fluids. She didn't want anything else after that. When we got home from UCD, I offered her a snack and she ate a fair amount. Then, at dinner, she didn't want anything. She looked a little nauseated. I decided to try giving her SEB. An hour and a half later, she was still nauseated - wouldn't even touch baby food. I just gave her a shot of Ondansetron, so I'm hoping she'll feel better soon. When I weighed her today, it looked like she had gained several ounces. It was only about four hours after fluids, so I'm not sure if that might have influenced it. I will try to remember to weigh her before fluids tomorrow to get a better idea.

Sasha didn't eat much breakfast this morning, either, but she wasn't obviously nauseated. I don't think she felt really well, though, as she just wanted to sleep in the closet. She did eat all her dinner, and showed up pretty quickly when I opened the baby food, so whatever it was seems to be gone.

Harvey was a touch off this morning, too, but he got better as the day advanced and after turning down his first dinner, he devoured the second option and has already had seconds. He goes to the IM tomorrow.

The arthritis in my right hand, specifically three fingers, has been really, really bad, so I'm trying not to type too much (as you can tell by this short condo!:joyful:). Still a while before I can get another cortisone shot. This stinks.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Andrea & Tennessee and Laura & ChiChi. :bighug: Extra prayers and vines to Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM and Elise's DM.

Happy birthday, Marje!!!

Hrmmmm, perhaps it is something in the air over there as three kitties were not all about the fuds this morning....

Sending vines to your fingers and hopefully the pain gets better....

As an FYI, your linked condo goes to one that Marje did on the sweet spot for ear pricking...

Oh, Tricia. So sorry about the pain in your fingers. Vines.

And sorry the happy appy day yesterday crawled to a more "normal" pace today. Girls!

Interesting thought about Cinco. Makes me wonder. Sure hope it passes.

Marilyn and Polly

Appy vines for your kitties in need. You are right that the pain meds can cause constipation but miralax should help it. I've found ondansetron to be constipation get for Max too.

Give your hand a rest vines for you too.

Sorry you're having problems with your fingers again Tricia!! I know how you feel...I can't have another shot into my knee until it's been over 6 months and it needs it again now

Hope the girls appy returns soon! It was so wonderful to hear the joy in your "voice" the last few days when they were eating so much better!

Cinco! Time for you to get back to work! I can't do all this Deputy LagoonMistress stuff by myself too much longer! Besides, I miss my swimming buddy!!

I agree with Chris....
Hope the girls appy returns soon! It was so wonderful to hear the joy in your "voice" the last few days when they were eating so much better!

prayers for your hands....
they are probably the hardest thing to not have work right, I find.

Have you ever tried infrared?

@rhiannon and shadow, infrared??? No, I've never heard of it as a treatment for pain.

@Chris & China, Cinco never could resist China's siren song. China, can you please lead him back towards shore? He can keep swimming, just in shallower waters, please?

Thanks, @tiffmaxee. I'm going to add some Miralax to his next snack. I forgot it at dinner.

@pollydoodle, sorry I didn't acknowledge your post. Thanks for the vines and good thoughts.

Minka has had a couple spoonfuls of baby food, but she still seems to feel ill. She's had SEB and all the Ondansetron she can have in one day. Maybe some Cerenia?

the last time I had physical therapy for back/shoulder pain...
she would do light massage (i'm not a fan of massage, too sensitive) and she would sneak in infrared ....
the light/heat penetrates deeply. (they charged $80 for 30 min- so she did it without charging me)
It helps. I have a hand held device.... and there's another one I want that looks even better. ( same price)

I had even bought an infrared biomat for Shadow ( sold it on ebay)....
she used it for the winter.....
heat kills cancer ....
i don't know if it's helped stave things off.... i probably should have kept it going.
I use the hand held on her occasionally when she'll let me.

Cinco and Max....time to come closer to shore now.....we're going to be sitting around the campfire soon and singing our campfire songs so you won't want to this that!!! I'm already up there making sure the fire keeps going and everyone has a log to sit on, so hurry hurry!!

Looks like you might not have to go back to .75U. :D;) Opiods (bupe) can cause constipation, not sure about tramadol.

Sending appy vines and pain go away vines for your hands.

@Wendy&Neko, Tramadol is an opiod. I guess the dosecrease threat took care of the BG problem. We'll be hanging at .5 for a while.

China, I'm comin'. I'm just tryin' to get a few other kitties to come with me. Max is being a little stubborn.

I'm glad the dermatologist doesn't need to see Cinco again. I hope the back end issue is nothing serious. Sending appy vines and prayers for your hand.

Actually, I wonder if Cinco does have some arthritis in his back end - arthritis can cause constipation because they can't squat properly. And maybe that's why he was having LB pee issues, too. Just more to think about. If he does have arthritis...my GA civvie, Mario, had it pretty badly in his back end and we used Adequan for it. It helped him tremendously.

Sending tons of appy vines for everyone, and mega feel better vines for sweet little Minka as well as for your fingers!
