hi all,
rogh night for both of us last night....with the sedation and his many issues it does take him time to process it all....so he was restless and wobbly....and wouldn't eat until 3 am....i tested his +4 last night and he was 151......so i'm glad i shot even if late...

this morning amps 229??? i think...i can't remember off the top of my head....it was 12_something mmol

he ate and then slept on his bed by the window with his teddy bear....then i woke him up at 7 for the pred and bupe and a snack...he ate it all....

i have left lots of food for him...so hopefully he will sleep and eat...

i spoke with the vet tech just now and i'm keeping the apt for tomorrow...i still want her to take a look at his skin issues....it is a big area and though it may not be related to the pancreas...the vet yesterday said it needs further diagnostics

his HCT is 31% i don't have the ranges....the test ran at the hospital the other day they tested to see if he clotted ok and he did...

nothing has been mentioned to me about the anemia...in fact they're sort of dismissing it...at least the ER vet did...so i will ask his vet tomorrow....

everyone concentrates too much on his age....and tend to dismiss things...so i gotta keep on top of it all to make sure he gets the best care i can possibly give him...

there is a scab i found on his skin...i didn't touch it until vet sees it tomorrow...and there is a lump around there too...small...vet yesterday said he only did ultrasounds and it was best his vet to look at it and perhaps biopsy it....

so we are not out of the woods just yet...i'm tired and at work...sneaking in this info for you guys...so keep us in your prayers...i gotta go and can't link yesterday's condo...bye...

Claudia, you are such an strong advocate for your sweet boy, Rocket. Too often doctors only look at the age, and that even happens to people who are older, not only animals. It is up to us to make sure our babies get the best care possible and you are doing an amazing job of it. Keeping you close in my thoughts and prayers today. I know work is going to be hard for you to get through but thank goodness it is Friday.

That's below normal, but not nearly a huge concern at this stage. Certainly nowhere near the point where you would use Aranesp. Bear Man started Aranesp when his PCV (basically the same thing as HCT) dropped to .18. Teddy, who is on oral chemo, walks around happily at below .30.

From Tanya's CRF site:

"Technically, a cat is anaemic if his/her PCV level is below 30% (or with some labs, 25%), but you may not start to see any differences in your cat's behaviour until the level is closer to 20%. Dehydration will make PCV look higher than it really is, so once a cat is rehydrated, PCV will often have fallen. "

The big concern will be to get his skin issue resolved. I hope the vet is able to help you with that.

he ate better today than yesterday....when i got home he still had left overs but at least he had eaten some...

will be asking the vet about the HCT and PVC....

he feels very warm....warmer than usual...and here today it's not as hot as yesterday....

counting the hours until i take him into the vet tomorrow....it still concerns me the skin issue...and here shotly will take his temperature....

thoughts anyone? re: his body temperature?
 
Hi Claudia & Rocket, Just stopping by to wish you a successful visit to your vet tomorrow. I hope that the skin thing can be diagnosed and that the other issues are not issues at the moment. We will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending good vetty vines and prayers that Rocket will be OK. Try to get some good sleep tonight.

Praying with all my might for a good vettey visit for Rocket--Yes, they do focus on the age way too much--
Of course we know it is a big factor, but not a defining one!! WCR is what's important--You see him everyday & care for him--They just see him every once in a while--Know thy Cat & you do as we all do--
Hoping for a better vetty report on the skin--Hugs & Luv from us!
