7/8 Cali amps 115, PMPS 205, +3 120

Of course today is day one of the FIREWORKS Equine Endurance Ride. I need to be at the showgrounds at about +5 for our training and veterinarian assignments. Rushing trying to get it all done and she decides to park herself on my clipboard notes and iPad. She is thoroughly confused by the time shift and thinks I have lost all sanity. Why is it not all about her as she is accustomed?

test @+3?
Before I leave should I carb her up if her numbers are dropping substantially?

yes, test at +3. do you leave at +5 or sooner? and you are gone all day till PMPS?
if you cannot get a +4.5 or +5 and she drops quite a bit at +3, feed a mix of LC and MC (or only MC depending on the number).

how long till +3?

I can test her @+5, then leave immediately.
Clarification. I just gave tsp 11%. [ I also have 13% available , Sheba roasted chicken in gravy].

I will be gone after +5 test until PMPS. I have requested backup from Volunteer coordinator but they are shy the total number of people they need, so I am trying to balance both. I will definitely not stay for the dinner or ride meeting, but race home for the PMPS test/shot.

‘Bhooma I think it may be in wee hours for you so please let’s discuss what ifs now:
At +5 even if her # is holding, should I add 1tsp 11% to be safe OR TSP 13% if #s going down @+5.
Also get a+4 to see effect of 11%MC?

That was quite a drop at +3. Feed some 13% now and test at +4. If she flattens out, feed 11% at +4 and +5. You may be able to switch to LC after that.

+4 [60] 1Tbsp LC and 1tsp MC11%
+5 [64] 1Tbsp LC and 1tsp MC11%. She is just surfing along now, having only used 11%
DH can feed@ +6 snack&1/2 tsp 11% just to be safe, then snack@+8 LC only

Hope you had a fun day at the show. :)

Thank you Bhooma. Today was the easy day. My regular large animal veterinarian, whom I have known for more than 20 years is the one I assist with P&Rs, reviewing history of the animal with the rider, noting any issues, conditioning. This is the pre-vet check for the Endurance ride which starts at 6am Saturday. Tomorrow we perform 4 vet checks on each horse as they ride the 30 or 50 mile ride. It is definitely a working/learning experience. I do enjoy seeing horse family friends I have not seen since last year.

Snack for Cali @+2 and test @+3.
