Good morning everyone! Please continue with prayers for Sabrina's continuing recovery from dka. I just spoke with the vet...BG 283, bilirubin going down & she seems brighter today. My caregiver brought Sabrina's favorite blanket to the vet & now the doctor will put it in her kennel. They want her to stay today, introduce the lantus, do the curve & she how she does. I believe her depot is pretty well depleted. I don't think the BG will go down much but her kidneys are recovering. Thank you everyone for your continued support.I'll keep you all informed. Usually DKA is from not enough insulin, not enough food, and some stress like an infection.
Are they giving her any antibiotics to come home with and did they find any infection?

I would try to give her about 1.5 times what she normally eats for a few days. If she doesn't want to eat that much, then I would assist feed her with blended food (not her favorite flavor as she may form an adversion to that flavor in the future) with added water.

I wish you The Best Of Luck.

i'd also add water to her food (as much as she'll tolerate) to help flush out any remaining trace of ketones and test once a day for ketones for the next little while. you probably want to get her spreadsheet up to date so if you need help, the data is there for us to look at quickly. I'd include any medical info/test data, etc. from this week's vet experience on the ss.

so glad that she's doing better! cat_pet_icon

So glad she's doing better. I could have sworn I posted on your condo yesterday, but I don't see it, so want you to know I've had Sabrina in my prayers!

When Cinco had DKA, he was very weak for quite a while afterward, so we had to make it as easy as possible for him to get to the lb. Sometimes he didn't make it there. That's when I discovered pee pads! Keep an eye out for neuropathy. You might want to start giving her B12 (I buy Zobaline) if her back legs look extra wobbly.

Sending lots of healing vines and continued prayers for her recovery. :YMHUG:

I don't have any DKA experience, but wanted to continue sending prayers along for a wonderful homecoming and continued speedy recovery!!
