ummm, well, I went to bed. Now at 5:30 a.m., she is at 358. I'll be able to check her pretty good today because I am off work.
shoot. i was wondering if she went up or down after starting out at such a nice preshot number last night, albeit influenced by food.

hope miss kitty gives you another nice preshot number tonight!

Re: 7/7 Miss Kitty PMPS 198

PMPS at 198, I gave the .75 units. Question though, if anyone knows, I bought some of the syringes online that have the .5 unit marks and I cannot get the bubble out of them. I can get them out of the other syringes, but not these. Is there some other trick to get the bubbles out of them? Thanks.

Re: 7/7 Miss Kitty PMPS 198

Last check of the day +3 207, she stayed mostly yellow today just like her fur.

ella (rusty & stu) has a really nice process for syringes that worked well for us...

i'll see if i have it saved...if not...we'll ask her to share it again!

Hi April, Here's my procedure for getting the air bubbles out of syringes. Hope it helps. Celi said you needed this!

1. work the plunger back and forth a few times to loosen it up.
2. push the plunger all the way in FORCEFULLY and hold it there.
3. still holding the plunger all the way in, invert the insulin cartridge and insert the needle into the insulin cartridge, ease up on the plunger, and SLOWLY draw out more insulin than you need.
4. with the tip of the needle over a paper towel, slowly TWIST the end of the plunger until you reach your correct dose. (Twisting is easier and more accurate than pushing).
5. give the shot.

The key here is step #2, forcefully holding the plunger all the way in. This expels any air that might be hiding in the syringe and doesn't allow any additional air to get into the syringe.

I use the Monoject syringes, which have a nice, flat plunger and good lines. I order mine (31 gauge, short needle, 1/2-unit markings) from American Diabetes Wholesale:

Miss Kitty is doing fine,
