Happy Caturday. Sending more healing vines out to those who need them.
Gracie is fine fine fine today. She had a nice, flat cycle yesterday and did well last night until +8. She was doing really well this morning until I overcarbbed her (see below). So I'm hoping she'll come back down. If not, another dosecrease threat is being issued. I had to bring her in from the catio today....silly thing would lie out there all day if I let her and it's too hot. Our electricity was out this morning when I dosed her and so I only had the light from my LED magnifyer...I sure hope I gave her enough insulin.
Yesterday I decided to clean the drain in the driveway. Our driveway slopes down to the house so where it levels out, we have a six-inch wide drain with cast iron grates in 18" sections. From the storm on July 4th, it had gotten full and wasn't draining so I took it apart but then couldn't get the darn grates back onto their brackets....you have to line a bolt up with a hole in the bracket. I finally got so hot messing with it that I gave up and just put the grates in place without the bolts. This morning at 6 a.m.,our next door neighbor called to ask if our electricity was out....it was. So I got up so I wouldn't oversleep and miss Gracie's shot time. After I was done with Gracie et al, I went out to start messing with the grates again while it was cool (and since I couldn't do anything in the house with no electricity), and our neighbors came over to help me
. When I checked her at +2 and she had come down, I gave her 8% because I thought it would be rather rude to leave our neighbors out there working on the driveway while I was in the house. I also gave her 8% at +3 because I just ran in to feed her so when we finished and I checked her at +3.5....well...her BG was WAY up   At least the drain is now totally clear....it's supposed to rain again today. Now I gotta figure out something nice to do for our sweet neighbors...it would have taken me hours without their help.
Oh..and the electricity finally came on after 11.
I'm still working on the "How to Give Subcutaneous Fluids to Your Cat At Home" video. The editing is....challenging
Have a great day.
