Good morning!
AMBG 139 no shot
Boomer ate all of his overnight fuds and spent a lot of time cuddling with me last night.
Allen was also CPC again last night having eaten a double serving of chicken pate and a single serving of turkey pate.
It's dental day for Boomer. I'm happy it's finally here but I really really hate leaving my babies at the vetty-bean. And right now it's usually breffis time; I put Boomer in the bedroom while I got Allen's fuds ready; Allen is eating now in the laundry room and Boomer is sitting here by his dish making me feel bad :(

Time for the Beans' breffis then get ready and off to the vetty for drop off between 9:00 and 10:00 (it's 8:00 now).

Thank you for all the vines yesterday; please keep them coming!

We'll be leaving in a few minutes. I closed the bedroom doors so that Boomer didn't scoot under the bed so now he knows that something is up and he's hiding behind the chair
Oh and to top it off it looks like it's going to storm so hopefully we can get him dropped off before it does.
On another note: just realized that my Vet used to be a lawyer and my Dr used to be in the NHL (Hartford I think) must check with my dentist lol

:cat: for Boomer!

I asked the dental assistant to call once he was out of the procedure, even if he wasn't ready to come home yet. I wonder if they will.

Piling on the vines. :bighug: The dental vetty would call me after the X-rays and before starting anesthesia so I knew what to expect. Still didn't help the waiting. :nailbiting:

Yes so I finally gave up waiting and called, Dr Larry answered the phone and said "Oh didn't anyone call you" He had finished about 75 minutes before.
So Boomer is home now wandering around and periodically washing his leg where the IV was in. I tested him as soon as we got home, 283. I've given him a bit of food and he licked a bit of it.

There were no extractions but Dr Larry thinks he may have a couple of...and hopefully I have this term right....restorative lesions. He is sending the X-rays off to a veterinary dentist to take a look. If extractions are needed, they are ones that Dr Larry cannot do; they would require a specialist. But Dr Larry thinks they are ok.

We're going to continue the antibiotics for a couple more days. And we have bupe for pain, first dose to be given tomorrow morning.

Other than that....nothing to report! I'm doubting that Boomer gets a shot tonight since he's only had a couple of licks of food in the past 12 hours.

Thank you everyone for all the vines, good wishes, good thoughts, and support! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yay!

I'm surprised a specialist is needed if the FORLs need to be extracted. My civvie Tanner had a few and his vet did the surgery with no issues. He recovered quickly so if Boomer needs that done, it shouldn't be too bad. :bighug:

So I decided not to test Boomer tonight; he did eat a bit at t/f/s time but not enough that I'm willing to give him his dose. I will test at what would normally be +3 and hopefully he's come down a bit and we'll get back on track tomorrow.

When Gizmo got home from dental cleaning he was starving (at least that was the way he was acting). I decided to see if he would eat.. I had to take the food away from him because he was eating fast and was going for the bottom. :banghead: I waited about 30 minutes and let him finish. I was worried he would get sick from the anesthesia.

He didn't miss a beat. Crazy cats.

:bighug: Glad Boomer home, doing well after dental and yay for no extractions needed. I was going to upload a cute tooth fairy certificate for Boomer...but it's much better that there's no need for TF visit tonight:bighug:

Resorbtion lesions are the equivalent to dental decay in humans, ( except the gum tissues grow up into the lesion and it is very painful ) so if the x-rays, confirm that, then he will need an extraction or extractions. Hope he will get lucky and not need them but, if he does, it will explain his numbers and you should see his numbers come down.

+3 58
Really happy I didn't give insulin 3 hours ago when he wasn't eating much although he's been waiting for his auto feeder to open for about an hour. It just opened and he's eating now.
And we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Very glad that he is back home with you and that everything went well. And good call on not giving insulin tonight.

Both Mandarin and my civvie Capone have had resorptive lesions and needed those teeth pulled. It's a trickier removal and you need x-rays after the procedure to make sure that everything came out. My vet also recommended more frequent cleanings. Capone is scheduled for another cleaning in a few weeks. Even though it hasn't even been a year since his last dental, his gums are already starting to look inflamed.

Last year when Boomer had his dental I didn't test as soon as we got home; I figured he would be high since he had missed 2 shots. People here advised me to test and I believe he was in the 40s.
Dr Larry tested during the procedure yesterday and he was in high numbers both times. I confirmed those numbers with a test as soon as I got him home. But I knew what happened last year.....and sure enough he dropped 230 points in 6 hours! So very glad I didn't give insulin!
