? 7/6 Xena- Both Ears Red and Irritated

So she’s been more finicky about testing for about a week, which means I’ve had to poke her more times than usual, which is a shame because she never gave me an issue before.
I noticed some minor scabbing, so I put some “fractionated coconut oil” on both of her ears last night then again at like 5 AM.
I took her a.m. pre-shot reading at 9:30 AM and there weren’t any issues, but at about 1:30 PM I went to feed her, etc. and her ears were really pink/red, and when I went to touch her ear, she pulled her head away, and when I investigated further, she even swatted at me and hissed/nipped at me.
I have used the coconut oil before, but I did put quite a bit on this morning. We clean her ears with a wet paper towel and applied Cortizone cream for now. I’m hoping it clears up but I did read that diabetic cats are prone to ear infections.
I noticed, as she was walking away that she was flicking her ears also. Not shaking her head, but ear twitching.
Side from her ears seeming to be irritated. Nothing else seems to be any different. She’s eating drinking pooping peeing acting normal.
For now I’m keeping an eye on her. Hoping it clears up. If not, I guess I’ll have to take her to a vet (we’re kind of between vets)
In the meantime, I hate to do with her without getting a pre-shot number, however, if you look at her chart as you can see her pre-shot numbers are never low. Still don’t like the idea.
Any and all insight and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Furball used to have lots of ear issues. I found most ear medicines have steroids in them and raise BG. This the only ear medicine I found that did not contain a steriod:

If the pink/red is inside her ears this may help. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you. I appreciate the info. I ordered a bottle. I could only find “with hydrocortisone” it in stock locally, so I had to order it online “without hydrocortisone” it will be here Saturday.
Any home remedies you can suggest until then? I did apply hydrocortisone cream twice today, I don’t know if it’s helped, or if it’s a coincidence, but she did let me test her for her PM Pre Shot. Still obviously tender, but appears to be less so than this morning. I realize the whole idea of ordering without hydrocortisone is that it doesn’t affect blood sugar, but if it helps maybe until Saturday, it’s better than nothing. Unless there’s something else I could use.
Her ears are all pink/ red, inside and out on top but they are clean and don’t look red in her ear canal, and no gunk or dirt. I’d like to nip it in the bud, though from what I understand outer ear, irritation/infections can work their way in, if not tended to.
Thanks again, any, and all advice is appreciated.
:)
