So last night, I tried to offer Trix Wild Callings Cabin Fever. The only time she's had this food was at the peak of her pancreatitis attack, and she only had it a couple times. She has not forgotten...when I offered it last night, she immediately burped and started licking her lips in nausea! I was hoping she would have forgotten the association by now, but I guess not. I can't blame her...when I was in high school, I had a "bad experience" with eggnog. To this day (sooooo many years later!!!), just the THOUGHT of smelling it makes my stomach turn, so I imagine if someone put it in front of my nose, I'd probably just about yak, too!

I'm feeling food frustrations today. I haven't had a chance to look at Dr Lisa's list, but I know there are not many options for us, given our restrictions. And I know Trix is hungry but sick of Fancy Feast. She's looking for food (even followed me to the fridge), but walks away when I offer it. She DID actually for a little FortiFlora sprinkled on top today, but that was pretty short-lived. It's a good thing she doesn't mind assist feeding...I think her appy is good today, but her taste buds are not happy. Ugh. Hopefully I can find something new on the list to try.

It's the last day of staycation. I'm still being tortured with these mouth ulcers, but I need to make the most of this day. Pretty bummed about going back to work tomorrow.....big sigh.

Have a great day, LL!

Re: 7/6 Trixie AMBG 146 +"3.5" 78

Sorry you have to go back to work tomorrow :-| It's the working everyday that makes the vacations and staycations so much more enjoyable. Sending healing vines for your mouth. That sounds yucky.

I know the frustrations with our food variety. I hate it when J.D. follows me to the fridge like he's hungry, but doesn't want the cat food I serve, so I know how you feel.

The new acupuncture vet said to try rabbit. I've never cooked rabbit. I don't even know where to buy it. Maybe my cats will like it. Maybe Trixie would like something like that as a treat too? I hope you find something she's in the mood for. And enjoy the rest of your day :)

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Nice start for trixie today. love the numbers.

I am sorry for the fuds frustrations... I so can relate to that. My Mr eat anything never did return to ihs gusto for food after is bout with P'titis. It was frustrating, as I was constantly looking for fuds for him. I can so remember the days with 6, 8, 10 cans open until I found the one he'd eat that day. It is tough. Tougher when you can tell they want to eat, but it just doesn't smell good to them.

Enjoy your last day of staycation. I hope it is a good one.

Oh Amy, I feel your frustration with the fuds. :YMSIGH:
Like Michelle with Mannie, I remember the days, with a row of open cans on the fridge shelf....all rejected.

I'm sending a few healing prayers for your mouth. As I'm dealing with dry socket from an extraction, last week, I understand the pain!
Gentle Hug,
Barb

Sending prayers that Trixie will get over some of the food associations so it will be a little easier for you. It sounds very frustrating..

Sorry about going back to work. It's hard when you are caring for a special pet.

Re: 7/6 Trixie AMBG 146 +"3.5" 78

I hope you can find something Trixie likes to eat soon. Hopefully she'll forget about the bad experience with the Wild Callings. Time off always goes by way too fast. Sending prayers for your mouth.

I bought 2 new foods for Trix to try: Nature's Variety Instinct Chicken and Halo Spot's Stew Chicken Pate. There really are no options out there that are as low in phosphorous AND as low and carbs as we need at this point, so I'm just going to have to continue relying on the phosphate binder. At least these are both lower than the Fancy Feast and Purina One.

Anyway, tonight I tried Spot's Stew. Of course this is a relative term these days, but it was well-received! I was hoping I could report a CPC, but we didn't quite make it there. She was more enthusiastic about this food than Fancy Feast, though. She definitely tires of foods, making things even more challenging. So, the next big question: How quickly will she get sick of this one? I hope we make it through the whole can. It's a bigger can...not nice and small like the FF and Purina. I don't want to open the NV Instinct until this can is gone.

I do have other foods on my "to try" list if these two go bust. Like I said, I do want to try to contain her finickiness by keeping her menu pretty small, but she had obviously had enough of FF for a while, so it was time to try something new. Hopefully it will stick!

Eat yer fuds, Trix! Your dedicated bean has carefully selected healthy flavors for you. Vines for your mouth ulcers, Amy. Have a nice evening!
