What a wild 4th of July weekend this has been so far. Thankfully Peyton is well but now I have a majorly constipated kitten staying the weekend at the vet. Vet said it feels like he swallowed a log! Hoping he will feel much better after all that mess is out :)
My liver shunt kitty does not do well in stressful situation and these fireworks have him very stressed out. He takes lactulose with every meal to help trap the toxins so he can poop them out, neomycin twice and day and a very small amount of lasix for ascites twice a day. With all his drooling I have had to up the amount of lactulose he gets. Last night I grab his bottle of lactulose to refill the container and it was EMPTY...now Momma is stressed!!! Unfortunately in the states lactulose is by prescription only. I had enough for him this morning and planned to call the vets office and leave them a message...apparently that option does not exist over the weekend. I didn't want to call my vets cell number over the weekend because he is off but I had no choice. I text him and asked if he could get someone to call me today while they are there and I would run pick up a Bottle or if they could call it into the pharmacy for me. Wasn't but a few minutes and I got a response from him saying he told them to leave me a bottle at the door. LOVE THEM!!! I told him he is free to change his cell number now. Lol!
So with one kitty constipated and unsure if I would be able to get him in to see a vet over the holiday weekend and Sunny having hepatic encephalopathy this Momma needs a break! The one thing I do have to be thankful for is Peyton is doing great, plus the rest of my kitty crew.

woohoo it looks like the Holiday Weekend is going to extend one more day with an OTJ Party!!!! Way to go Peyton!!

I hope all the kitties and kitty mama feel better soon!

Kitten update: vet just called and said even with an enama and stool softener my kitten has only had a pebble come out since yesterday. She said she has hooked him up to IV fluids and hopefully that extra hydration will get things moving along. She Xrayed his and he is severely backed up. I wondered why he wasn't a playful little kitten and just figured he had a shy personality. I feel so bad for not catching it sooner. If he has not gone on his own by the morning she said she will have to has him and try to manually express some but it will be harder to do because he is tiny. The good thing is that he is urinating so we have no blockage there. Looks like I'm going to have to find a high fiber wet good for this little guy! I'm very happy with how accommodating the vet has been this weekend! Makes me happy to know he is in good hands :)

Happy Day 13, and continued prayers for the little baby kitten! I hope your liver shunt kitty is doing better today, too. Ugh on the fireworks...I hate how they scare our babies!

Poor baby kitty! Sure hope the extra fluids help get him cleaned out so he can be a playful little kitten again!

You might try adding pumpkin or baby food squash to add fiber.....some cats love it and will eat it willingly (hoping he's one of those!)

I'm sure it'll be fantastic for you to not have to watch Peyton so close too, with all the other kitty health problems you're dealing with.

That's right Elise! Tonight would actually be the night!! Woot woot!!! Peyton is off to get fitted for his tux for tomorrow's party. He may not be able to sleep tonight :shock: :RAHCAT

Chris it will be nice to give everyone their undivided attention. Peyton has been my main focus. Sunny, my liver shunt kitty, will be going to get his past due blood work. Hopefully his liver values will be within normal range. I will try pure pumpkin or squash for the little kitten after he makes it back home and pray that keeps us from having this issue again. My FIV+ kitty will need to go have her teeth cleaned and probably have several extracted. Stomatitis is one hell of a booger to clear up!!! Then after Peyton has had him a bit of a break it will be time for him to have his complete blood work and check his kidney values. Fingers crossed all of my other babies can stay away from the vet for a while. I would be rich if it weren't for all these animals but not near as happy without them. Love all my babies :)
