7/6 GIDEON BLUE - AMPS = 360, back in the PINK...:-(

+6 = 132. I am going to feed him, and then retest in 1 hr. I had a really tough time getting blood from his ears. I usually don't have an issue at all.

That is what I wondered. I guess I could have held food and then retested to see what direction he is going in, but I wanted it to be a realistic day, and this is when I have been giving him some mid-day food. He has food available up to 2 hours before his AM & PM test, but I also give him some food separately from the other kitties, just to make sure he eats before insulin AM & PM, mid-day and before bed. His weight is steady.

So, should I not retest, and just wait until PMPS to test? It just seems so strange that the blood in his ear veins seems to have "dried up". I do use a lancet shooter/device, and am wondering if the spring mechanism wear out fairly quickly. I tried free hand this morning and I could hear a slight crunch as I gave him a little poke.I felt bad I poked him like 4 times...:-(

It’s good you are following the normal food schedule I think. This way he hopefully won’t bounce or if he does not as high. Part of this is trial and error.

I don’t think you need another test before PMPS. I always did the sticks free hand and used a 15g terumo needle.

My husband just did a test at +9 and he was 186. Just not sure why all of a sudden we are having difficulty getting even a tiny drop of blood. Do you didn't use a lancet for the free hand poke? You used the kind of needle you put on an IV line,?

I did use a needle like we use for sub.q fluids because that’s how my vet liked to do it and I found it easier. As you know terumo ones are super sharp. Of course I used a much tinier one, 25 gauge I believe. I drew blood easily.

Did you use a new one each time? I have some boxes of Terumo, but smallest I have is 21 gauge.

In a matter of 3 hours Gideon's glucose increased by 200! This was also not eating for the past 2 hours.
