I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th celebration and no furbabies were too afraid of the loud booms. My poor liver shunt kitty was drooling everywhere and still is just a little this morning. Hopefully he will feel better soon.

I'm about to head to the vet with one of my kittens he has seemed a little off this past week. He had a poopy bottom several days ago and has come down with the sniffles again. I started back his antibiotic to get rid of the sniffles and have started to give him Lysine. Last night I noticed him get in the litter box and almost fall asleep and fall over while either trying to poop or pee. I checked the box and there was nothing. He did the same thing a few minutes later. I sure hope the little fella will be ok! I don't have a clue what the falling asleep and falling over was about? Maybe he was passing out? I've never seen a cat do that.

Sending vines to all our kitties and beans in need. Have a wonderful weekend LL!

Oh no! I just called the vet and they are closed! Err!!! I didn't think they would be closed the day after the fourth. I have to go to work and was just going to drop him off on my way. Hmm? Now what to do?!

Re: 7/5 Peyton AMBG 91 OTJ Trial Day 12

Oh,Julie. That is crumby about the vet being closed. That poor kitty sounds pretty sick. You say you started back on antibiotics so I assume kitty was sick before? If not eating and drinking enough I guess you could give fluids. Sounds like your only other choice would be a vet's office you don't know or the ER. Will they be open tomorrow or not until Monday? Good luck with this.

On a way better note HAPPY DAY 12!! Since you started at night it's really 12 1/2. Way to go Peyton. You are kicking diabetes out of the ball park!!

They recommend taking to the Emergency vet but thy have an after hours number as well. When I get home I am going to call their after hours number. The emergency vet is sooo expensive but if it comes to that we will have to go.

That's right Elise, it's 12 1/2 days :) I hope you and Max have a wonderful day!!!!

Re: 7/5 Peyton AMBG 91 OTJ Trial Day 12

Is there another vet in the area that could see him? Sending lots of prayers, and Happy Day 12 for Peyton!!

Re: 7/5 Peyton AMBG 91 OTJ Trial Day 12

I left work and am taking him to another vet. They said I can run him by if I come ASAP and they will check him out. Now I'm dashing off to get him. Whew! I just don't want to get stuck with an emergency on a holiday weekend.

When I took the kittens in one had a nasty ear but wasn't mites. We treated his ear and it cleared up. The other one he said had had a sinus infection so we started him on an antibiotic. He has sounded sniffly the last few days so I started the antibiotic back. I'm now thinking the "sniffy" noise is more ifs gurgley noise. I hope the baby is ok and doesn't cost a small fortune!

Kitten update: I made it to the vet 30 minutes before closing. Whew! Ends up the kitten is severely constipated. She said it felt like he had swallowed a log! Poor little fella. She gave him an enema and if he hasn't had any action later she will "help him some" and also give him IV fluids. She also mentioned stool softener but I don't recall at what point she will administer that. They are keeping him over the weekend and will update me with his progress. He's never been away from his sister before so I hope he's not frightened.

Peyton is doing great...knock on wood. His appetite was crazy yesterday morning and dwindled last night. He has decided his favorite time of day to eat is in the morning. Plus he wakes me for a couple meals during the night. Makes me happy that he feels good enough to do that. Thanks to you all!!!

I hope the kitten will be okay staying at the vet. At least it is nothing serious. I hope your kitties have all recovered from the fireworks.

I'm glad Peyton is doing good. Happy Day 12!

So glad you got the kitten in! Poor little guy!

A lot of us use Miralax for constipation...it's a tasteless powder that you can get at WalMart (no prescription)...they have their Equate brand called "Glycolax" too .....I think about 1/8th teaspoon is where most people start

A little canned pumpkin or baby food squash can help too, but those are usually better when they're not TOO far along....just to add some fiber to the stool (which helps both constipation and diarrhea)

YEAH for day 12 1/2!!! Almost party time!!

Re: 7/5 Update on Kitten/Peyton AMBG 91 OTJ Trial Day 12

We give miralax to our kitties, 1/8 teaspoon for 11 to 12 pound adults. I'd probably start a lot lower with a kitten... Almost time to party! Go, Peyton!

Re: 7/5 Update on Kitten/Peyton AMBG 91 OTJ Trial Day 12

I give Peyton Miralax everyday and just had to up his dose a bit. I had no clue the kitten was constipated. I was about to make him an appointment at the vet because I felt something poking out his side. I was so scared it was a tumor but turns out it was poop!!! I give them a mixture of hard and wet food but they need to be strictly on wet. I've been transitioning all my cats to wet and some are liking it better than others. Thank you all for your well wishes and cheers for Peyton. We appreciate you all!!!!

Peyton continues to look wonderful as he nears the end of his trial. Glad to see he has stayed out of the chocolate milk.

Oh the poor kitten!! I am sure he will feel much better when the poop is out. I'm glad you got him into the vet.

Have a great Saturday.
