Yesterday

Trix's appy is definitely better today than it was yesterday. It wasn't bad yesterday, but it was "different", for lack of a better word. She was feeling feisty and had this "look" about her that she was feeling good and not yucky, but she wasn't thrilled with what I was serving, so I'm inclined to think yesterday was more about finickiness than actual appy issues (or maybe it was a little of both). I've been trying to keep it to just three flavors, one of which is strictly for her assist feedings, to help reduce excessive finickiness...I think when they know there are lots of options in the pantry, they tend to hold out until we've opened 10 or so cans before they decide the first one was really OK to begin with   ! But, I do wonder if I should bring in ONE new flavor, and maybe temporarily retire one of the other flavors, to give her something different. I'll have to bring up Dr Lisa's list today, as fuds shopping is on my to-do list for tomorrow. Of course I'm really afraid to rock the OTJ boat, so we'll see what I can come up with...I already know certain things are out, like Wellness and EVO (she hates both), and I'm avoiding all fish flavors because of the p-titis. I don't know if she'll eat Paw Lickin' since that was what she was eating when she first got sick, plus that one is really too low-caloried for her these days. I'd love to get something lower phos, too, but I know that adds an extra huge challenge, and i do have the binder on hand. Sooooo....I know it's going to be slim-pickins.

Today, she definitely has that impish little glint in her eye...she's feeling good and such a cutie patootie.

I can't believe it is already the second-to-last day of staycation  . It's been good being off, but I've also been battling a really bad bout of mouth ulcers the whole time, so I feel a little ripped off and an sooooooo not ready to go back to work on Monday. What can ya do, though? I still have these last two days....

Have a great day, LL!

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Nice BG's for Miss Trixie, as always. YaHOO! Sorry on the appy thing, but it really sounds like she was just being picky... Maybe it would be good to rotate in one new, retire one old. It is hard to find new and enticing things when the choices are so limited. Good luck with the fuds shopping.

Enjoy the last two days of your staycation. I hope you feel better too!

Yeah for that little "glint" in her eyes!

It's always nice to see that because we know they're feeling pretty good....and if you watch real close, while we're opening can after can, the cats in the house are "winking" at each other saying "I wonder how many she'll open this time?"....LOL

I agree...see if you can find something new to add to the rotation. Of course don't buy a lot of it because as soon as you do, she'll quit eating it!

Ah, finickiness! Thy name is Cat!!! You know Trixie is feeling well if she's messing with you like that!

Yay for the glint in her eye. Fun usually follows. :-D

Sending healing vines for your mouth (ouch!) and appy vines for Miss Picky. ;-) Hope you feel better and can enjoy what's left of your staycation!

Hi Amy,
So finicky Miss Trixie wants some new fuds? Rusty is liking Wild Callings Cabin Fever (96% chicken) and Pheasant Roost (96% pheasant). Ann says the chicken is the lowest for phos. of the Wild Calling line (see the Wild Calling tab on Tess' SS). It is higher in fat than many foods, but Dr Lisa says that fat is handled well by cats. I've been in touch with the company's vice president and he says that all their foods are "less than 1 % carbs" (I don't believe it is that low, but we did have several exchanges of e mails and in general I liked his attempts to answer my questions.). Their foods are clearly 96% meat and the liver content is species-specific. It has good moisture and a good smell. I haven't tasted it yet.

Have a good weekend,

Ella & Rusty

Good luck if you try to add another food to the rotation. Kitties can be so picky sometimes. I hope your mouth gets better soon.

Funny you should mention Wild Callings, Ella...I actually have some of the Cabin Fever in the pantry. I got it right after the p-titis started and she seemed interested in it at first back then but then lost interest - but she was still really sick at that point. I haven't offered it in a while, so I think I am going to bring that in for one of her mini meals tonight to see what she says about it now. The higher fat/calorie thing is probably good for her. She's not underweight, but she did lose her "fluff cushion" of weight from the p-titis so I don't want her to lose any more, and I wouldn't mind if she regained a tad.

Right now she is snuggling and taking little nips at my arm  (This is actually another "old behavior" that recently returned!) ....me thinks SHE thinks she's hungry....until she sees I'm not putting a bowl of kibbles in front of her sweet little face.

Lovely +3 and glad to hear Trix is snuggling. I hope you find some low carb, low P foods to her liking. I remember we were constantly on the search for new low P foods for Gussie as he would tire of foods.

I'm so sorry about your mouth ulcers during your stay cation. So NOT FAIR!!!

I hope you enjoy your last two days with some relaxation and primo Trix time.
