AMPS 297

PMPS 258
+2.5=341

Nice day in the neighborhood. Quiet. Polly's just hanging out in the enclosure or here on the couch or in the window sill. Little does she know that the car monster will zoom her away to a new clinic, new vet in less than two hours.

I'm sure her numbers will be even wonkier than usual tonight. She is so responsive to stress and stresses with so little cause. But wowzee she so much more confident that she was before the sugar dance started.

Vines and wishes.

Yes. We'll leave in about an hour. Hope to learn something.

Good luck on the visit, Marilyn. Please keep us posted.

Come on down, Polly!!!

Re: 7/5 Polly AMPS 298+3=201 +6=207

Hi Marilyn, thank you for your visit to our condo! Polly looks pretty good even after the drive to the new vet today! Hope her mouth is feeling better, please let us know how she is doing!

Re: 7/5 Polly AMPS 298+3=201 +6=207

I hope everything went well at the vet today and you got some answers. I hope Polly keeps surfing and doesn't go up from the stress.

Re: 7/5 Polly AMPS 298+3=201 +6=207 PMPS 298 Vet Report

Polly was soooooooooooo brave on the ride, at the vet. Usually, she hunkers in the back of the carrier, facing the rear. Today, face front, looking around, and complaining!

No stomatitis. One canker-like sore on upper front gum. (The little spots from Tuesday are gone). Throat (airway) felt thick/hard. Vet speculates mucous build up. URI. Consistent with her snurggling (wet-sounding, sometime spittling a few small bubbles out her nose/mouth when breathing; very moist sounding purr) The snurggling has been a Polly feature for a long time, maybe a couple of years.

Ten days of liquid clavamox. Vet claimed the clavamox would have no impact on her glucose levels and she didn't think the possible URI was really significant enough to impact glucose/insulin.

And here we are. Up to 4.75 tomorrow morning.

Thanks everyone for your wishes. Miss P is spread out on the couch next to me without a care in the world. Think she's got it right!

This diagnosis sounds a bit more reasonable. I wonder if it's a calici virus breakout. I hope the ABs help Polly feel better. Some types of liquid ABS are in syrup - so you'll know soon enough. I remember one time giving Clavamox and it was orange flavor. What made them think cats like orange? Mine sure didn't.

I like Missy P's attitude and how it's improving. You go girl - more blues please!

That's good it's not stomatitis. I hope the URI clears up soon.

Re: 7/5 Polly AMPS 298+3=201 +6=207 PMPS 298 Vet Report

did she have a speculation about what that line of white dots on her gums might have been?

infections can definitely increase BGs - i don't know if this one is, but as Wendy wisely said, you'll know soon enough about the ABs, and the infection too. There's an awful lot of FD (in my experience) that becomes clear in hindsight!

Re: 7/5 Polly AMPS 298+3=201 +6=207 PMPS 298 Vet Report

Great to know it is not stomatitis. I hope the clavamox helps but URIs are typically viral. The clavamox would prevent any secondary bacterial infection.

If the clavamox is just white, it usually does not have any sugar or syrup in it. It's the pink and orange stuff that does but never say never. As Wendy said, you'll know soon enough.

I'd be sure she gets a probiotic, too. I use Renew Ultimate Flora.

The Clavamox Tess was given smelled like bananas! I assume the AB was for the white bumps, but URI usually are viral as Marje said, l-Lysine helps w/ that. We use NWC Naturals Total-Biotics for a probiotic. It is made for pets and when I showed out vet she said it was better than the one she usually recommended. Now this is what she suggests to others. We have the larger size and even giving it to 3 cats it has lasted well over 6 months. It is a much better value than the others we've tried and it's live culture which is what you want.

Marilyn, that is great news that Polly handled the trip to the new vet bravely, good girl Polly! And I hope the AB works for her!
