Yesterday
Shadow has 4 Ps to day and a good appetite. He was walking around crying at +2 after eating his breffis earlier....I offered some more food and he ate it all up! He didn't fully finish his bowl at +4 but that's ok.
I gave him his B12 shot and he took all his meds okay today.
We had a loud evening last night...with the fireworks. Our town ended up having trouble with the barge on the Gulf so they sent it back towards our canal where it had originated. The firework show went off at 10pm on the Intercoastal. Lots of people were still on the beach since no one made any announcements....sigh....what a mess. But, they were pretty loud when they finally went off...in the rain. And now, it is raining again...more storms still heading up the coast towards us. It's been so long since we saw the sun here....sooooo strange.....
Shadow doesn't do thunderstorms or fireworks very well. But, he was nestled next to the couch between it and the coffee table.....poor lil guy!
Hope you are all having a happy Friday the 5th!

Hi Pat, glad Shadow is eating and asking for more. Wow on your fireworks. I didn't hear any here last night. I used to be able to watch Sea World fireworks where I lived before, but high rents had to move.
I want to ask you what reaction do the kitties have with the added ingredient, Carrageenan, in it? Thanks for pointing out the Avoderm has it added.
Yikes on all the rain and storms. Doesn't sound like sunny Florida there lately. Hugs from us.

HI Pat
Me too, glad to hear Shadow's eating...and even asking for more. :-D
Awww, he didn't like the boom-booms? We don't get them close by, but mine don't care about thunder, unless it's a loud clap!

You have lots of rain too, huh? I'm glad not to have extreme heat and fire, but a sunny day now and then would be nice.

Enjoy the rest of the day, Pat :-D

Thanks for visiting Barb and Ann....
Ann: regarding the carrageenan: I am not aware of definite reactions to it by the kitties. It's just that I am more aware of this added ingredient since I found out it was
red seaweed. With my thyroid issues, I am watching my intake of iodine. So, I read up on the carrageenan and found out that it is in heavy creams and some brands of cottage cheese and
definitely soy stuff (which I don't drink anyway)....but it amazes They say that it is okay to consume...but then again, some people question it.....depends on what article you read...
I remember you saying the Canadian Wellness was chunkier and Mags preferred it. I guess I always got US made Wellness whenever I bought it in the past....

I wonder, in the end, if it makes a difference.....it's not as if it's the last ingredient either!!! Maybe there will be information on it eventually.

I also read that cats cannot use flaxseed....something in their system is lacking
when it comes to utilizing it....sooooo.....other articles say it's ok......weird.
I get so annoyed when I see some of the ingredients in cat food. I realize that my two might eat something at first but then get turned off to it. With FF they seem to be okay
for the most part. I just like to add some variety so I end up buying different things.....like the Wellness I gave in and got. Then I looked closely at the ingredients. It's also in the
Royal Canin RS that I gave to Shadow when he needed to be syringed....it is a creamier consistency.....not surprising there is carrageenan in it. Check out your own foods and see how
much stuff has this added. I mean, it's in heavy cream....and why is THAT????? I thought I was just buying cream. but they put this stuff in there to make it appear thicker and heavier...!!!
Incidentally....I think when one introduces new foods, sometimes their bowels are affected.

So, all-in-all, there is nothing definite that I "know" for sure....but I am going to keep reading about it. Interesting to note that the Canadian processing does not include it in their cans.
So strange, isn't it??? I wonder why they would put it in their US made stuff. Does it take the place of something? Does it make the food cheaper to process? For instance, if they add water to heavy cream and then add carrageenan, does it make it appear thicker even tho it is watered down and therefore cheaper to process? Hmmmm......
BTW, the Wikipedia info on carrageenan says it is used in pet food....did you ever have a cat turn and say "Wow Mom, this snack is soooo creamy!! YUM!"
LOL
