Maggie was very restless and pacing around starting at +.5, but she was the same way yesterday and when I tested her then BG was 139, so I assumed it was the same thing, so I didn't test earlier tonight. My mistake! She's slurping up the food right now.
Looks like another reduction in the morning. At this rate we'll be OTJ by next week.

Have you met @Mandy & Rex ?

Her cat was on express dose decrease and she might have some great tips as to how to handle stubborn lows.. She is not as often online as Rex went into remission but I tagged her and she'll respond as soon as she is on Board.

Please post update as soon as you have it...

Just glad she's up, and I'll keep monitoring.
Great! DO post updates - for my sake if anything else ;)

This up is due to Karo - will be gone in less than 30 min.

The HC will kick in then, so do monitor every 35-45 min to get an idea how quickly HC leaves her system. At a nice numbers the LC might be enough for surfing, but not yet - that 29 so early is too early. It is said that if cat is on the mission nothing can stop them.

Well, bribery isn't working too well for me anymore...
Hmm...Usually works like a charm..

Try changing the bribe flavor - several different snacks/treats that she 'll like rotated at a time. Keep her guessing what's coming. Rub your fingers in different flavors first, then test, and then dispense the treat. It is a bit of a slippery slop - spoils the cat...

+4 is 82. Only took one try to get blood, thank goodness...
Maggie tends to associate the treats with the unpleasant experience and rejects the treats before, during and after.
82 is awesome! But test again in 35 m and have the LC ready to offer.

One thing is clear - Maggie is clever little girl but it means more difficult road ahead for you because if she is on the mission to get off insulin testing frequently is the only way to keep her safe...

I hope you will get better advise as to how to proceed w/ testing without creating too much stress/ trust loss..

If you are agree that testing IS necessary evil, some solution will follow...

Do you talk to her? I had lengthy conversation with Ducia about me ladling her urine from underneath of her, and I swear, she understood the necessity and never minded it.Unlike so many cats I read about here.

Keep in mind it is safety issue, nothing else, and try to persevere. If she doesn't sense the guilt you might be experiencing she might be more open to it. I know, easier said than done, but chances are none of you will have to put up with it all for too long..(anti-jinx x 3).

What lancets do yo use? I recently switched to gauge 33 One touch Delica and extremely happy with it.

I try to remain calm and talk to her in a soft encouraging voice. If my husband is available he holds on to her and keeps her distracted, and that really helps, except when her ears are too stubborn to bleed.
No worries, I have no intention in giving up on the testing. In this short time I see what a valuable tool it is.
I'm using gauge 33 micro-thin Relion, and I'm pricking by hand. Started with the pen, but by hand has been better. Started with gauge 26, but it wasn't doing any better, so I switched to gauge 33 hoping to cause her less pain.
When you prick, do you do so at an angle or straight down?

Angle only - 45 degrees or so. I aim in between the skin tissue, very light, not to poke thru, although even that isn't a problem
With this g33 lancets it really only takes to tougch the skin so ever slightly, and I get very small bead, enough for Relion Micro to read.

+4.5 is 106. She is grudgingly eating some LC.
Yay! :DMake sure you update the SS and your subject line - let the people celebrate it with you!

On the practical side: do not let your vigilance to go off, not yet. Maggie shown late in the cycle drops - watch out. Even after eating. Cats do like to catch us unprepared, don't they?

My Marvin is doing the same thing tonight. I try on an angle but he sometimes moves too much, when I am able it works better, but most time it straight down. Good luck tonight, treats work a little for me, but like yours he is also catching on and started growling yesterday.... skipped the hissing and straight to growling... d'oh

Oh, poor Marvin! And poor you! Good luck to you both. :bighug:

Tanya, please don't feel like you have to stay up any later to check on us. I truly appreciate your help, but I don't want to take any more of your time. :bighug:
I'll keep testing and posting results at least for a few more hours.
