Good evening Lantus Land!!! Marje and Gracie here writing on behalf of LLEF (Lantus Land Emergency Fund).

LLEF is running a fundraiser for Jupiter and Jamie. As you know, Jupiter has developed a growth on his foot which often bleeds quite a bit. Jamie thought it was an abscess and knew he needed to see a vet. LLEF paid for the initial vet visit which resulted in a diagnosis by the vet that it was a "small mass/tumor". The vet attempted to aspirate it for cells to examine but only got blood. Further, the vet stated the mass needs to be removed right away because it is growing quickly. If they wait, there will be too much skin that will have to also be excised and she will not be able to just stitch it closed. The procedure needs to be done under anesthesia and the tumor will be sent for a biopsy to determine if it is benign or malignant. Jupiter is currently on antibiotics until the procedure as the vet wants to be sure any infection is gone before surgery. The procedure is set for July 18th.

Jamie has done a wonderful job managing Jupiter's diabetes especially with her own health being compromised. Jupiter is currently earning reductions and his BGs are staying in the normal range. Jamie is very, very devoted to his care regardless of the effects it has on her own health. She is a daily LL poster and is supportive of all other members especially new members who are scared and still reeling from the initial shock of the FD diagnosis.

We hope that everyone in LL who is able to do so will send something to help Jupiter's ongoing costs for medications, the surgery and biopsy, and any possible future vet bills.

All donations are very gratefully accepted. No amount is too small to make a difference in Jupiter's treatment and recovery. Please send your donations via Paypal to LLEF4kitties @ gmail.com. Please indicate your FDMB user name in your comments. Please contact Linda and Bear Man by PM if you would prefer to donate by check.

All of us on the LLEF Committee thank you in advance for your generosity and support in helping one of our own.

This is Linda and Bear Man, updating on behalf of LLEF. Thank you so much to those who have already donated to this fundraiser, as well as to all of those supporting Jamie in her condo. We have raised over $1000 so far, but more is needed to get Jupiter through the upcoming surgery and recovery, and to help with his future medical needs. Please continue to support Jamie and Jupiter in any way you can. The outpouring of love and financial support has been truly inspiring. Jamie and Jupiter are fighting hard, and with your help I know that they can make it through the tough weeks ahead.

This is Linda and Bear Man with another update. Thank you once again to everyone who has donated to help Jamie and Jupiter! We expect to have enough to pay for Jupiter's upcoming surgery, but he will need food, supplies, and medication both leading up to the surgery and afterwards. We also hope to be able to offer Jupiter any needed post-op follow up care. The fundraiser is still open and gratefully accepting all donations towards Jupiter's care. Thank you Lantus Land!

Rather than just a simple "bump", I have something special.

You may or may not know that Jamie has been having a bit of trouble posting pics, so yesterday she asked if I could post some for her. I did in her condo last night.

Tonight Jamie asked if I could post another pic for her, and I will gladly do so.

I've been here for two years. But time after time, I am left speechless (hard to believe ;-) ) when I see the overwhelming generousity of the people here, and the amazing community that is "FDMB". You people are just incredible people.

This is the pic that Jamie asked me to post for her, Dane and Jupiter:

Re: 7/5 LLEF FUNDRAISER FOR JUPITER AND JAMIE

I really want to tell you all how much we appreciate this. Jupiter and I have received so much love, support, and generosity that it is overwhelming – in a good way of course!! I was so incredibly worried about him – because I could not afford the surgery. I cried all day the day we took him to the vet because Jupiter means the world to me and I hate to see him not feeling well. I love him so much – and I just want him to be okay. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being so kind and generous and helping to pay for him to get surgery. You have no idea how much this means to me – I cant even express in words how grateful I am. When I found out how much money had been raised, I cried, lots and lots of tears of joy because I knew Jupiter would be able to have this surgery done. I am still praying and praying everyday that the surgery goes well. You all have done so much for us!! Thank you LLEF for doing this fundraiser for my baby Jupe, and thank you Lantus Land for being so generous and donating to help with the costs of surgery and medicine for my baby Jupe.

I posted pictures in Jupes condo yesterday of his paw. It looks so sore, poor baby boy. I wish the surgery was sooner because I know its hurting him. He did not like me getting near his paw to take the pictures. Although I am nervous about the surgery, I just want it to happen already because this worry is killing me. I will keep you all updated on how he is doing. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that the surgery will go well and that he will be okay afterwards. Once again, thank you all so much.

And thank you Carl, for posting the picture. I know Jupiter is so thankful for all the love and support you have all given us!

Aww. That photo and Jamie's post got me started crying. Beautiful posts, Carl and Jamie. Thank you.

Re: 7/5 LLEF FUNDRAISER FOR JUPITER AND JAMIE

I apologize for taking so long - I wanted to post a thank you yesterday. It was just so hard for me to get a pic of Jupe because he has been hiding. And everytime I think about the surgery I cry. I really just want him to be okay. I need him to be okay. I love him so much - through all my pain and everything - my furbabies are the things that keep me going. They are my reason to live. They are so sweet, cute, affectionate, and they make me so happy. This has been one of the hardest weeks of my life and honestly there is no way I could have gotten through this week without FDMB

Oh Jamie, you aren't the only one crying. Altho I haven't posted in your condo, I have pretty much kept up with you and Jupiter.
I feel so sad for you. I know this hurts you terribly.
I am so sorry for his little foot, and can't wait for the surgery, to heal him!!!

I'm sending lots of prayers for Jupitor's foot and healing prayers for your poor hurting heart.
I love the pic. Carl's a sweetie, huh?

Oops, put this in the wrong thread. Meant to put it in Jupiter's condo
