Yesterday http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-372-at2-s-bad-dosage-advice-from-vet.216410/

I wasn't able to get an AMPS from Fig this morning after several tries. However, I did get a number at 4am (+8 from last night's shot) = 372, and then again today AM +10 = 410. Coming up to PMPS time in one hour.

I am worried about his most recent number being so high. Might his depot be refilling?

The vet was not happy I gave him a PM shot yesterday. She said the numbers I was seeing could be Somogyi effect, but from what I've read, that doesn't make sense to me. I'm thinking he didn't bounce up, but that he cruised up after 2 skipped shots on consecutive days. Am I missing something?

Not sure I did the right thing.

How long does it make sense to hold this current dose before doing another curve? The vet wants me to do one Sunday.

I added the vet's BG curve numbers to the spreadsheet.

I’d scrap whatever ideas you have on the Somogyi effect as it’s not a term we use regularly here but has similar attributes to what we call bouncing.

Bouncing can be caused by a number of things. In Figaro’s case, he might be bouncing from seeing some lower than usual (for him) numbers. He’s just not used to it but with time he will!

Some cats trend lower overnight and you might just be missing those moments but that’s okay. Keep testing! You’re doing the right thing :)

Hopefully some members can chime in with some tips and tricks on how to get blood for tests.

Symogyi does have a formal meaning, which is different from what we call bouncing. And it's also been studied and shown that it does not exist in cats on depot insulins, following tight regulation method.

The depot can take six cycles to rebuild. Hang on, you'll get there. Sunday should be fine for a curve.

Thank you. I am trying not to panic about the highs, and hope they come down with patience.. I'm not so good at being patient about this, though! o_O
