Good start. I wish you didn’t have to go on vacation right now when he’s sliding down the dosing ladder so quickly. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for you to have a vacation! But wow! He’s just doing so well right now. Will your pet sitter be doing BG testing or will there be a Libre? How long will you be away?

Late Sunday. Should a vacation dose be chosen in another day or two so I can test him on it?

He is already dipping this morning, with a +1 of 65. I'll be able to monitor.

You're telling me! I am really worried that it will arrest his progress and that he won't go back to the greens again. Do you know what the chances of that are? I'm kind of freaked out, tbh.

The petsitter will use a Libre but is prepared to do manual sticks as well. One saving grace is that she loves both cats and they really love her. No other catsitters can touch Benny; he's still pretty feral. They will have visits 3 times a day. I'll be gone 11 days. Everything was planned long before he even got sick, much less began to come down the dosing ladder.

Normally you could wait, but considering the speed at which he is heading down in dosing, you want to be more conservative. I won't be surprised if you have to go lower than 0.75u. Antijinx.

Quite a drop at +1. You home to monitor? Might want to feed some MC and get a +2.
 
You just reduced a full .50 so see how that goes. Your vacation dose would start Thursday or Friday depending on how the .75 goes. It might be your vacation dose or maybe .50. See what Benny tells us.

Yes, I'll be home and will get a +2. I'll feed him some MC, too. I'm not sure at this point how much the carb level is affecting him; sometimes a higher carb meal does not seem to raise his BG as much as it should.

Yes. I need to think about that. Let’s see what he has planned on .75.
 
If it were my cat, I would wait to see what the .75 will do, but I would start the vacation dose (if it is different than the .75) early to make sure it actually will keep him in higher numbers. Most people want their cats in higher numbers when they’re away and will be alone for portions of the day. We’ve just recently seen two cats who went quite low on their vacation dose. Fortunately it sounds like you have a great pet sitter who really cares. As for stalling progress, that will be temporary. He will get back into greens again when you are back.

I definitely want the higher numbers, especially given his propensity to dive. His +2 is 51. I know it is the depot, but wow, he does drop.

Could not be gladder to hear that his stall won't be permanent!
 
His +1 this evening is 155. Is this likely to be a quiet evening without a dive? He will enjoy the reduced monitoring and increased sleep without me bothering him again and again. He is going to love my being away, because he'll be able to sleep then too!
 
It sure looks like you will have a quiet evening. I’d get one more test at +3 or before bed to be sure.
 
Yes, the combinaton of the token shot, bounce from the limes and the 0.5U reduction might keep him higher till the depot adjusts.
Might be a night off.
