I happen to have ondansetron ODT 8 mg that my daughter takes
Don't ask me what ODT means
How many mgs could I give him
He weighs 16.8 lbs
On the bottle it says orally disintegrating if that makes a difference
I've never had to use this before
He was fine all morning ate, threw up around 7 pm , I fed him again and then threw up just now 9 pm looked like watery food

Dosing of ondansetron is .5-1 mg per kg. Max weighed the same and I gave him 2-3 mg.

Hi Elise so I guess I could cut the 8 mg in half and cut that in half again

That’s what I did. You could give half if you want but I would start with 2-3. So give the bigger piece after you quarter it. I hope it helps. It sometimes takes a day or two. My two vomited this week. One had fur balls but the other didn’t.

Butters weighs 10 lbs and she gets 2mg every 8 hours. Yes you can give it every 8 hours.

I have given 5 mg to Ruby because 2-4 mgs does not work for her and she's a little over 11 lbs or 5 kgs. You can start with 2 mg and go to 4 if that doesn't work. Cerenia is better for vomiting so if it continues you should ask your vet for some. I really hope he gets over it quickly. Big hugs, Diane!!!

Hi Katherine Thanks , when Perry died I threw out all the cerenia , If it doesn't work I'll get some cerenia tomorrow. He looks miserable.

Try not to worry too much, Diane (says the worry wart! ). One night of vomiting doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. He's bounced back before and he will do so again.

Hi Diane, my saint and worrier over all of us. So sorry Tyler boy. Dolly rarely vomits but did so just a short time ago. It came out of nowhere and have no clue. How is he doing otherwise? Was it the same food both times? Same can? As said by others, if he’s not feeling well in the morning then a vet visit. I wish I could instantly take it away. Sending love and prayers to Tyler’s tummy. Please post any updates, we will all be worried. So sorry Diane, you already have a full plate. Big hugs to both of you

Aww thanks Adrienne, other than throwing up he's fine. It was 2 different cans of food. I gave him the ondansetron and so far so good, He's even looking to eat. I'm not going to feed him until layer on and see what happens, maybe just a tablespoon.

Well so far he kept that teaspoon down. He just sleeping, but looks mushad (slang for mushy in Italian )

All is good. PT ended yesterday but they are requesting 6 more sessions, my strength is not great yet. Happy he kept the food down. Wish I could go to bed. Another hours without a drop then maybe… Get some rest. I hope Tyler is done with his tummy problems. I am so sorry you have so much to worry about, your dad, Ashley, now Tyler and everyone here. Taking Tyler to my vet at noon, he threw up again a little this morning at 9:30
Won't drink water only if it's in his food which the last time he ate was last night around midnight. 1 tsp of FF. Kept that down

Will give him fluids if I want to which I am and she will give me some cerenia
He's still mushy looking

Took his sugar on 7-1 was 74

Decided to take it now was 129. I figured it would be higher because of him not feeling well
I doubt he fell out of remission been taking his BG a lot
