Happy 4th of July, everyone!
What a great way to start the day....
An AMPS of 168! Meadow is off to a great start. :smile:
Will be monitoring her today since I never leave my babies home alone
on the 4th of July. Hope all of you have a super holiday and enjoy the celebrations!
And now we have a 222 at 1 and 1/2 hour past breffis.
Meadow is in a happy happy mood today. :smile:

Pretty Meadow has some pretty AMPS this morning! Hope you have a nice day...glad you will be there with them....me too. (they hate all that noise)
The city shoots of fireworks right over our canal so we go out on the dock and have a ringside seat. But the kitties don't like all the noise all day. (raining here right now so that will put a real damper on the festivities if it keeps up!)

Good thing I am home monitoring. As happy as I am to see green, getting an 89 at +3 is setting her up for a big bounce...if past history holds true still. :YMSIGH: I hope she won't spike too high a bounce this time though and I'm hoping her liver is not going to panic quite so much this go round. She just had a small snack so next reading should be a bit higher due to the food. :roll:

Give some LC to encourage surfing and test at +4. This isn't a sharp drop so let's hope that Meadow will surf for a while and not bounce (or if she does, it's not a big bounce).

Her +4 was 38! I gave her some gravy food just to bring that back up. Just tested again at +4 and 15mins and it is 39. Will test again in another 15 mins. Good grief! I know this is heading towards a huge bounce.. I just know it. :sad:

You've got the method down -- lather (test), rinse (if below 50, feed HC) and repeat (in 20 min with low numbers). You're doing great!

So how come at +3 she ate a small LC snack and dropped to 38 an hour later? Confirmed with another reading from the other ear. I thought the number would have gone up slightly after having eaten. confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat Off to do another 15 min check..brb...

Okay, 49 now. Hubby said "test with the one touch to confirm". So I did..got a 33. But am going by the Relion since that's the one I have been using all along. I think she thought I was quite rude by sticking that cup under her stream to get a urine sample for ketone testing too. Negative on that. Oy vey....

Just as I feared she would, she's going into bounce mode. :( I was hoping she wouldn't get this high, but it seems this is what happens. I don't understand why she is ok some days and other days she plummets and skyrockets. This is sooooo frustrating and upsetting! When that number popped up, I just collapsed into a fit of tears. :cry:

Don't be discouraged, Dottie. It is just part of the sugar dance. You're doing a great job managing this process, and Meadow will smooth out with time.

Fear not, and don't be discouraged! What Meadow did today was exactly what Mannie did yesterday. We too went from the 60's to mid 400's in a matter of a few hours. Bounces are never fun - but it's all part of recovery, part of the sugar dance. I hope that Meadow clears this quickly, and do know that it will get better. You did very well today managing the low greens today - congrats!

Hi Dottie, Just got here and read about your exciting day. You did everything just right. Meadow will gradually get used to the lower numbers and won't bounce as high. It's all part of the process, and sometimes it just takes longer to straighten itself out. And sometimes there are good weeks, and then, wham-o, back again to bouncing. So hang in there. You got a dose reduction today!! Yea!

Take a look at Mannie's SS, or Mocha's, or Gabby's. They all bounce. Some kitties never bounce, other bounce some of the time, others seem to not want to give it up, and other eventually get their livers to learn that these low numbers are normal. It just takes time. The good news is that Meadow's liver is working just fine!

Help! I can't find the instructions to my Relion meter and need to recode it to F-3 strips instead of F-4. I ran out of the old box and the new box is F-3 coded. If anyone can give me the instructions for recoding it, I sure would appreciate it. I have the Relion micro meter.

I could test with the One Touch, but it gives me different readings than th eRelion and being that she is bouncing, I really would prefer to stay with the same meter so the readings will be consistent. Making a trip to Walmart tomorrow to buy another relion meter.

Sienne, thank you so much! After I posted, I went to the website to see if I could find any info. What I found out is that I am basically an idiot....my meter doesn't need coding. I have the micro, not the confirm. And sure enough, I put the new strips in and voila...F-3 comes up. :-D

I also want to thank ALL of you who replied today, especially after she hit 445. You helped me keep it together and made me feel so much better. I know I am probably a PITA sometimes, so I really appreciate all the help and advice you all give me and the fact that someone is always here to help. I really couldn't do this without you all. So thank you!

You responded with your head on straight, and you were in control the whole time--You did GREAT!
If you have lc,mc & hc food, strips, one meter that you feel comfy with, You Are In control!
Meadow did great today too--she let you test her all those times, & cooperated..That's a Big accomplishment!

I unfortunately know all too well how horrible it feels to see this.
There is nothing YOU did wrong. Nothing! You did everything right today, and Meadow is just doing what Meadow needs to do - for now.

Im glad you got the meter thing figured out. I do agree its best to stick with one meter. Sometimes if a number does not seem right, then you can retest. Getting a weird pattern over a few days is often worthy of pulling out the back up to dbl check, knowing there may be slight variance.

Well, give that Meadow lots of kisses and skritches tonight. She did a good job too! She is doing the best she can, and that is all we can ask of them right?!

And I really was amazed at how good Meadow was about letting me test her considering she has been a little brat of late. But I told her how worried I was and I think she knew she HAD to behave. :-D
