YESTERDAY:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=121223

Max came back down to earth. I hope he stays on the ground for awhile. How about a steady blue surf with a touch of green? Thanks Marje for the pep talk!! I still can't get the bubbles out. He got his insulin 10 minutes late while I tried and finally gave up.

I don't even want to post yesterday's numbers again. He just kept going up all day to a high of either 358 or 488 and basically was mostly pink and was at 184 at pm+4. I hope today is better.

hehe you don't have to post yesterday's numbers. i always look at the spreadsheet anyway and suspect others do as well, at least if they're helping you with dose decisions.

I wanted to answer your pm here about bubbles (cursed little buggers!) in your syringes.

I used both vials and pens with the Terumos.

Just asked my husband because he did a lot of the shots, and he said he never had them not come off the sides. You're flicking the syringe, right? We did a lot of flicking! LOL. maybe you're not flicking hard enough - don't be afraid to give it a good flick, although i never used anything except my fingers.

I'd draw up a little more than you need, withdraw the needle from the vial and draw in some air, then with the needle still pointed up, start flicking to get the bubbles to rise. Rotate the syringe so you're flicking your finger near where the bubbles are in the syringe. Think about the path the bubble has to take to get to the needle and have that path be above the bubble.

So i mean you might not have the syringe completely vertical - the bubble will want to go straight up, so think about if you tip the syringe slightly so that if the bubble releases, straight up will end up at the needle. Does that make sense?

some people have found that drawing the dose very slowly, ie, pulling the plunger back very slowly, can be helpful.

I'm going to go do some other things but will check back with you later today and see if you have questions.

Hi Julie. I've tried all that. I guess perhaps practice will eventually get those darn bubbles out. like I said, I can get them to the top but not off the sides.

What an obedient boy Max is today! You got your blue with a touch of green. Now hop up on your surfboard, Max, and keep it safe!

He's actually surfing green but not too low. Hopefully that will keep him safe as I need to leave now. Our daytime caregiver wanted the day off and my sister is alone. Thanks for stopping by Tricia and Ruth. I'll visit condos tonight! Happy 4th.

wish i had some other ideas for you. Suzanne also has used vials, although i'm not positive which syringes she uses. Perhaps she has some other suggestions.

On a positive note, whatever you ARE doing is working. Look how awesome Max's numbers are.

Much better cycle today!  Good to see Max still has Mr Greenie in him.

My current batch of syringes is being stubborn about bubbles that go to the stop but stick to the sides. One trick I've used is to draw the plunger out a bit to make a larger air pocket on top, and tap the bubble so it joins the air pocket. Sometimes I can then push the plunger back up and get rid of the bubble. If not, then tilt the syringe so the liquid is parallel to the ground, then slowly push the plunger up. But I'm using a different brand of syringe, not sure it'll work for you.

No bubble success tonight either. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep trying. We have a good PMPS so I'm hoping it isn't another repeat of the other night where it kept going up from there.

Gorgeous day for Max today. I hope he continues to surf it nice-n-safe for you tonight! Ugh on the bubbles....I hope you find a trick that finally works! Have a great night, Elise!

Max so far is surfing blue. He has only eaten lc. Stella & Chewy's and fd chicken today since he didn't drop too low.
