So, after my issues with injections yesterday both times I decided to give Diane a break from the AM test since I knew I missed last night. This morning I got the insulin in and was incredibly disappointed to see her levels at 270 after 7 hours.

BUT, I tested before the PM shot (which also was successful!) and her levels were at 194!!!

MADE MY DAY! I didn't expect to see the blues so soon into insulin. It was a nice surprise after yesterday's issues with fur shots.

I am a bit surprised though that her levels didn't go down that low until the 12 hour mark. I guess it could've occurred when I went back to work after the +7 test, but I was still shocked that at +7 it wasn't lower. Is that normal for it to dip so late after the shot? I guess it varies by cat?

We strongly recommend always getting a preshot test. As you discovered tonight, sometimes they surprise you. You do not want to shoot if they are in unsafe numbers. Yes, it is not uncommon for a cat to “slide” down all day, especially if breaking a bounce.mif you shoot, this may be an active cycle tonight, needing some monitoring.
