Hello from Mike and Bj. Some kindhearted and knowledgeable folks have advised us to post here. We've only been at this a little over a week and are still newbs.

Long story short- yesterday Bj started low and then I overfed him lots of crap in panic which made his numbers skyrocket, leading to the finale of PM FurShot.

AmPs was initially 446 but he moved his head and I got a lot of blood on the strip. So I put another strip in and got a different reading of 590.

I had to take his blood 10 times yesterday and we're both weary from it... We're hoping we won't have to do so many today but will do what we have to as advised.

Hi Mike,

What's encouraging is the drop from HI last night to 446 today. Either some of the insulin got in, or he came down some on his own.

I think today, you're good with the dose on that number, and maybe get a test at +2 or +3 to see how much he's come down by then?

Mike, you're doing a great job! Feline diabetes is a difficult disease and just the fact that you are here and learning how to treat it is fantastic! Give yourself a big pat on the back and scritches to your sweet kitty.

Hi Mike,
I did the experiment.
I have an Accu-chek avia meter.

I got a big droplet. Off of shadow's ear, it was 83. I scooped up the rest of the blood and the second try was
an 85 and the third try was an 86.

So, I like Carl's comment that it's probably more accurate in the lower numbers.

Sounds reasonable to me. Well, it's all we have to work with anyway so I guess it is what it is.

I updated the subject line to reflect the +3 BG.

That's a nice +3 number. Maybe one more test between now and +6? Maybe split the difference and go for +4.5?

Dang it, I didn't get your last post. I had an early dinner and promptly fell asleep. I got him at +7, will that work? It's dropped to (203).

It works just fine!! It's good to see those numbers coming down. Don't be upset if you see BJ bounce by the morning. He's dropped almost 250 points this cycle. That's a fast drop. Both low numbers (that's relative based on what your cat's used to) and a fast drop can trigger a bounce.

BTW, on your Profile, you have BJ's date of diagnosis as 7-14-2112. I think that's a year off!

Lol 2112- I guess I must be a time traveller huh? Thanks for catching that, I'll fix it before bed.

Well, Bj's ears are looking destroyed... If things don't look scary or anything I will just test him PMPS. I'll try to check back here in a little while to see if there are any requests for more blood.
