Good Morning LL! Clearing the bounce nicely today. Go Tess! Green Lagoon later!   I apologize for not getting back last night, I pretty much conked out . DH was feeding and I thought posting.

Thanks for the fuds discussion yesterday. Marje, I did have that minimum from Dr. Lisa. What I was looking for was maintenance calories.

I found some good info on the web, and some really bad stuff too. This is an excellent site I found Max's House Here's a great chart that they had.
Energy Requirements for Kittens and Adult Cats
…….Age …..kcal/lb body wt ….kcal/kg body wt
Kittens:
  • 10 weeks ….113 …………..248
    20 weeks …...59 …………..130
    30 weeks ..….45 …………….99
    40 weeks …...36 …………….80
Adult Cats:
  • Inactive …...18 …………..40
    Active …......20-30 …….45-65
    Pregnant ..…45 ………....99
    Lactating* ...56--145 ....123--319

I hope this is legible, frustrating not being able to use tabs here for charts.

So for Tess's 8 pounds it looks like 120 kcal minimum (15 kcal/lb.), 144 to 240 kcal (18 to 30 kcal/lb.) depending on activity. Probably on the lower side since she isn't a really active cat. Tess was right, I'm the overly fussy mom trying to stuff too much food into her.   I'll ease off. If she wants to eat great, if not I won't obsess. That last dinner at 11pm was pretty late anyway.

WCR All 5 Ps, Clean Plate Club, and lots of cuddling, it's chilly here this morning. We actually had oatmeal for our breffis!

goodness...math in the morning????

at least Tessie's assessment of her needs is believable...

if i bought Binksy's tale of hunger...he'd get a half gallon wet food every few hours!

you're almost green, Miss Tess!!!

Just hanging out in low blues, we'll go for a +7 to get a water report from the lagoon.

Celi, the math was easy, I had a calculator. The hard part was trying to figure out how to show that table in a post. Not easy to do things in columns here.

Ann....glad to see her surfing blue....I bet she will be headed for the lagoon.

Thanks for the info from Max's house. I guess I misinterpreted Dr. Lisa's info because I thought 15kcal/lb could be maintenance for some cats. Gracie is active but I know I can't give her more than about 100-120 calories or she blimps out. She just has a slow metabolism I guess. I think the important point on Dr. Lisa's website is if calorie changes are made (decreasing) be sure and weigh the cat often to ensure weight loss is not too fast. This certainly doesn't apply to Tess.

One thing about what you said....and I know you do worry about Tess getting too thin....before FD, I let Gracie decide how much she wanted to eat; I know she was eating less than she is now and she has gained weight since she was dxd. Because she was a young, healthy cat, I just watched her weight but didn't get overly concerned that she wasn't eating a minimum of 15kcal/lb. I know Tess is older and you want to be sure she doesn't lose any weight. It was just always curious to me that Gracie didn't consume that minimum calorie alotment but was fine...in fact, she wasn't thin ;-)

She's waiting for Tess at the lagoon.

Hi guys - nice blue surfin' going on. Good job Tess! It is nice to see she ha cleared the bounce,. YAY!!!

What a nice resource you found - Max's House. Looks like I have some homework to do! I really would like to get Mannie to drop a few pounds... seems like I have been saying that forever... Thanks for taking the time, and posting it. i know what you mean about not having tabs here....

Have a good one today... Mannie hope to join all at the lagoon, but sadly he's a bit off today....

What a beautiful blue surf Tess is on!!!

I worked out how much food Champ should be getting and, sure enough, I'm feeding him less than what he should be getting if he weighed 14 pounds (his ideal weight) instead of his chubby 18 pounds. Yet, he hangs onto those pounds like a life preserver!!!! He just will not let them go!!! I think he's just made to be a roly poly!!

Re: 7/30 Tess AMPS~123 PMPS~114

Nicer numbers today, Tess, and thanks, Ann, for the calorie info. I need to do some homework, too. Rusty has so much hair that I didn't notice that he had gained more than a pound since February!
I guess we can join you at the lagoon, even though we had another yellow (furshotitis reigns supreme today).
See you tomorrow,

Ella & Rusty
