i'm thinking he's on a bounce after being a little low yesterday. he seems fine other than slightly high this morning.

but i'm wondering if anyone has why he might not want to be held or petted? i'm wondering if he could be hurting, although he doesn't have any other signs. in the past month or so i've noticed that he doesn't come up on my lap to be cuddled like he always used to. i called and called him this morning and he wouldn't come up on the sofa with me.

last night i watched the video on the national geographic channel on gigantism and the distortions that happen to a human body with excess growth hormone.

any ideas? should i ask the vet for something for pain to see if it makes a difference?

Poor Punkin, I have no idea what could be causing his behavior. Is everything else okay with him?
Personally before I treated a symptom, I would want to know the cause.

I'm sorry Punkin is not being very social with you - by any chance does he have matted fur? My civvie gets those and she does not like to be held when she's all clumpy.
I hope u get some answers Julie, maybe try a health forum cross post?

i guess i'm wondering if it's the acro - should've said that straight out. it causes them to keep growing and i'm wondering if that's it.

no, he's not matted. he seems just fine except for avoiding being held.

Julie: no hint here on the lack of wanting to be held. HIs numbers are looking very good today.

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. Yes, Mike is a Capt at Southwest...been there 11 years. THat's cool that your dad worked for an airline, too. Yes on the travel although I haven't been able to use my benefits since Gracie was dxd. Soon I hope....she'll be regulated and maybe we can do a short trip. We keep asking her permission :lol: :lol:

I hope you find a reason.....maybe Celi's right...maybe he's just not happy with you....

Hi Julie. Gus was never a cuddler, but now it's almost never. Could it be that maybe their joints are sore because of the long bone growth at their older age? Maybe the hot weather? It's something that I've noticed as well, but just accepted it as something that was connected with the acro.

You are crazy!! Sleep molecules, too funny. I always wondered why I felt so sleepy cuddled up with a furbaby. Now, I know. Hope you can regain some cuddleness.

Hey Julie and Punkin!

Maybe its because you've been gone? Leo tries to pull that on me once in awhile, but he usually warms up after a few days. Do you think he's in pain from his acro?

Anyway i heard you were going to be having some FF elegant medley for supper? Let me know how it tastes :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: kidding of course!

hi julie. i've heard some of the other acro moms talk about their kitties having headaches from the tumor. you might want to talk to your vet about having some bupe on hand. since our kitties can't talk, sometimes we have to just give them the bupe and see if there is an improvement. if you see an improvement, continue with it...
 
thank you all - he did climb on me today and purr his little sleep molecules into my brain. i resisted, though, and managed to stay awake to enjoy petting my little guy while he was in the mood. he was purring like mad, and i was too. :lol:
 
i was overcome with insanity and since i was up for punkin, i vacuumed our whole upstairs, mopped it, then cleaned off the junk from the kitchen counters.

I'm with Natalia...I wish insanity would hit me just once like that!!!! My house is never clean all at once, everything gets done piecemeal, room by room.

As for Gus not wanting to be held, I've experienced something similar. Champ stopped sleeping at the foot of my bed, or even wanting to be in my room, not long after he was diagnosed. Also, he used to sit next to me on the couch all the time, but now just stares at me when I try to get him to jump up. I'm wondering if it's because he may have arthritis. Gus may have a pain syndrome caused by his acro, or even arthritis, but has no way of telling you except to refuse to do things that hurt him. I'm for trying the bupe and see if that makes a difference. It won't hurt him if it doesn't work and it just might help. Good luck!!
