Re: 7/30 Peter AMPS 97! Yay, but eyes please?

Hey Peter! Can't offer advise but I know EXACTLY what you mean about "feeling guilty"!!! I had the exact same "97" yesterday AMPS and beat myself up all day for not testing in the middle of the night! So, last night I got up at 2AM and she was in the 200's! You can't win! Have a great day!

I do know that you should NOT feed and test again in 30 though :-D

Re: 7/30 Peter AMPS 97! Yay, but eyes please?

Will you be around after your +1.5 to monitor?

If you will be able to keep an eye on Peter, I think you're OK to shoot although I'd like to make sure this isn't a dropping number. So, how about a 20 min. stall and see where numbers are heading?

Re: 7/30 Peter AMPS 97! Yay, but eyes please?

He is 115 at +5. Climbing but not a ton.

If I shoot, I can get at 1.5 (1.5 hrs after I shoot, 2 hrs after regular time) and a +7. Would that be ok? He eats great, so I know we will get breakfast on board, too.

Re: 7/30 Peter AMPS 97, +.5 115, Yay, but eyes please?

As long at it wasn't a dropping number, I think you're fine to shoot. And yes, food will help to bring the numbers up some. Get whatever tests you can. I'd leave food out just in case. With the +1.5, if you're concerned about where numbers are heading, you can always leave a higher carb food out if need be.

Sigh. I was hoping for a nice blue treat this evening. Not a yucky pink thing! Come on down Peter, stop bouncing around!

I wish I was getting more #'s to help see if I need to change his dose, but he is becoming such a terrible growly wiggle-worm about the testing.

Ok I thought of something good: I haven't seen red in a couple of days! And he has been super playful, running around more than I have seen in a couple of years. And a great appy!

Have a good night everyone!

Pete, hang in there! If you REALLY want to ((((sigh)))) take a look at my SS! You wanna talk RED - what about BLACK ---- then, look at what happens when she stops going boing boing and into the greens! She dive bombs! YOUR SS looks great! Hang in there --- testing does get easier! Have you tried the "rice sock" and then ice water and Neosporin? That helps a lot too.......

Bern & Tashie!

Hi Bern - tell me more about the ice water and neosporin? I tried neosporin beforehand (the numbing kind) but it just made the blood spread out instead of bead up. Poor Peter's ears are all red splotchy (he is white, so has transparent ears) and I feel horrible about it even though I know that diabetes complications are much worse than some ear discomfort.

Okay, so I HATE ear testing but the thought of the paw I think, is far worse and then they could get infected from the litterbox? So, this is what the board taught me, it REALLY helps!

1. Get a baby sock - fill with like 3/4 TBS rice, tie in a knot
I warm in microwave for 18 seconds - all microwaves vary so make sure it's not TOO hot
Put the warm sock on the ear for a minute or tow to "bring up the blood" ....trust me, it helps!
Do your pokey thing - have you seen the video on just WHERE to poke - there is a "sweet spot" that you have to hit
Have a bowl of ICE WATER ready with a baby washcloth in it ..... after the poke, put this on the ear to "numb"
Then follow with a little Neo that has PAIN relief in it

LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ME TO BE MORE DETAILED OR FIND YOU THE VIDEO!

Pete, this all sucks! but it can be done - I freaked about it for weeks!

B

I don't think I've visited you guys before. That is quite a bounce today!! I'm sure you probably know this, but are you giving Peter after every test attempt, even when you're not successful? Treats usually make everything right!!!

I hope Peter clears that bounce smoothly...have a great night!!
