We took a break from testing last night. Ozy was pretty tired of the nearly hourly testing. His glucose was high and he wasn't feeling so well. I did hope to test him for ketones last night but never saw him pee. When the numbers drop below 300 (like 254 this morning) is it still helpful to test or would any high number caused ketones be gone?

Boy, he feels good today. Chasing twisties (pipe cleaners) and very playful. So wonderful to see. I hope he goes blue today and stays there. A girl can hope, can't she?

Update in the afternoon-- still feeling great and we are in the BLUE!!!! I like that best right now. Low enough to feel good, not so low I have to worry about hypo.

Hmm... these +6 and +7 numbers look like two days ago, but a little earlier in the cycle. Not ready for green today. Still wanting the BLUES.

That's totally fine. When early tests indicate he's going to stay high for a cycle it's a good time to take a break. Frequent testing keeps him safe when he's dropping, but it's not necessary to test as much every cycle. I'm glad to hear he's feeling playful this morning! He's not far from blue already!

Thanks, Amy. He was getting to the point that he wasn't so glad to see me.

I do still have that ketones question. He isn't high anymore. Should I still test him for ketones because of yesterday's high numbers? Or is it too late now that his blood glucose has fallen?
