Ming had a yellow AM cycle today. Hope that's all the bouncing he'll do. No pinks please!

Ming is a lot better today. No pain it seems and very normal. :)

I just cleaned it with water last night. Tonight, I cleaned it with chlorehex soap which is what we use to clean wounds and scrub surgical sites.

Nope! This is the first Libre he's had and the first time I removed it. I'm guess the tissue glue was too much for him. We're removing a client's Libre on Wednesday so we'll see how that goes.

One thing I remember reading in some studies of Libre, is that some dogs had skin reactions from it & it looked similar to your picture even when it was when taken off at the vets, so its possible that it wasn't just a result of how you removed it. Maybe worth asking the vet just in case there is a skin sensitivity. I know someone on this forum used something they purchased when removing the Libre but I can't remember what it was. That's a good idea. And yes, I'll speak to my vet about it. I didn't talk to them today at work (I work at a vet hospital) because I was embarrassed haha! But I don't think it's the Libre since the four spots was where the tissue glue was. Do you remember where you read that?

I used ease-off to take off the libre and it's what @Phoebe Squeak recommended and what my vet recommended too.
 
Oh yes, we are reducing Ming's pred to 1 mg ONCE a day for about 4 weeks. Vet wants us to reduce VERY SLOWLY.

After that, it'll be once every other day for 2-4 weeks. Then once every 3 days for 2-4 weeks.

I'll do the full 4 weeks just to be safe.

And I saw a random test tube of cerenia at work and one of the techs just told me to bring it home because it's never going to be used lol SO I HAVE INJECTABLE CERENIA! Not sure when it expires but... I'll keep it for a month.

I will try to find the journal article with the picture of the dogs skin with irritation. If you go on PubMed there are quite a few studies. I was trying to find the one with the picture of the irritation. I'm attaching the one study in which 1/2 of the dogs (small N of 10 dogs) experienced the erythema. Some even experienced some inflammation from the device that effected BGs, so thats also interesting. I guess like any drug or medical device, some people/pets have issues with side effects etc..:

Abbott also recently changed their adhesive for the Libre due to the amount of patients experiencing skin irritation. Some were just contact irritation but others developed more serious contact allergies. Hopefully Ming is just a simple contact irritation.

I wanted to send you this photo -- Phoebe Squeak's Libre was removed by the vet and she had hair loss as well. I was told it has to do with how much extra glue was used. It was not something you did wrong. IMG_8274.jpg
 
And thats exactly what the photo looked like in the journal article about using Libre with dogs. So, I agree, most likely not how you removed it & definitely something you just have to discuss/watch out for with your vet with future uses to make sure its just a simple skin irritation that goes away (they say 24 hours) vs a more serious skin reaction/allergy to the adhesive used with Libre
