Re: 7/30 Cheekyface +11h20m~117

117 is normal and perfect. Oh, how I'd like to come home to a 117 at PS time.

Sorry, I haven't yet read your post for yesterday. I read something about a worm  , before I left of work. I hope you have a good vet visit, the worm(s) are easily removed/killed, and your vet doesn't freak because of the normal BG. Please remember that vets are usually not used to seeing 117s because they usually see cats who are stressed out by being at the hospital.

I think this dose is doing really well, for now.

Please keep us updated with vet news, and have a good Saturday :-D

Morning Dyana,

I like the numbers but not when I have to give insulin.

And I've just retested 20mins later @ +11h45m: she's dropping again ~108

Are you home all day today, Lesley?
117 is pretty close to 108 and the meters have a certain varience (20%, I think?)

If you're going to be home, I would think of it this way...take advantage of shooting this number now, so you can see where she goes with it, then you will kind of know where she will go on this PS when you have to go to work and shoot the same type of number. I know it's scary. I have learned over the years to shoot almost anything as long as I'm going to be home and can manage the numbers with food, but am still a little chicken when the numbers are low or going lower and I have to walk out the door for 11 hours. But, at least if I am scared, I can look back at my spreadsheet to a certain day when J.D. had a simuliar PS and I was home to monitor, and I can see what he did that particuliar day in the past. It helps.

Hugs to you, Lesley.

Re: 7/30 Cheekyface +11h20m~117;+11h45m~108

Thank you dear Dyana for the positive vibes and especially the hugs, but I'm just too tired, too new at this and too frightened to keep this up.

I don't want to have to keep spending my nights and weekend days sticking holes in my cat's ears every hour of the day. I just haven't got the strength, I'm sorry.

@+12h15m=6.2. She's surfing green and I'm chickening out. I've fed her--and she's barely touched it. No shot this morning and the vet can do a BG when we're there so she can see for herself.

I'll post later when we're home.

xox

PS yes, she hacked a bit after she'd eaten but I didn't see her bring anything up; but I saw it about 10 mins later in about the same spot. I think it's a flatworm, I managed to bag it and will take it to the vet as well.

Re: 7/30 Cheekyface +11h20m~117;+11h45m~108

The worms are gross. I wish you the best of luck at the vets.

Please don't give up on Cheekyface, Lesley. She has a very good chance of going OTJ and becoming a diet controlled diabetic. Wouldn't you like that? To be able to one day, only test her once a week or so? Oh, the dream. Sorry, that's probably a dream I'll never see, myself. But you can! :-D Cheekyface is doing so well. One day, you may very well not have to worry so much. Wouldn't that be nice?

You are doing a good job, and I applaud you for what you have done so far.

Yes, it would be lovely to have her OTJ...I'm not giving up on her at all, this is all a very good sign, but it's happening too fast for me and right now I need to hit the vet between the eyes with what she's been doing since last week because I feel like I'm swinging in the wind sometimes, even with the fantastic help here. The partner I'm seeing this morning has diabetic cats in her family and seems to take me more seriously than my regular vet, so wish me luck.
