I haven't been around much as there is little good news.

Jones continues to decline. Nothing we have done has stopped the weight loss. The last thing to try is cyclosporin or chlorambucil (which we tried before and he didn't do well - Leukran I believe).

His numbers are through the roof due to the high carb and the bouncing which is not helping with weight loss issue.

That said he is eating like crazy. He hasn't eaten this well in the last two years.

I would love just to switch him to the lc and totally drop the RC Renal diet. He loves the YA and I have been slowly giving it to him. I could use that as a topper. I mean if he has gooey poo any way, what do I have to lose?

There has been no real change in the poop department no matter what I try and what I try to keep the same.

Sorry to hear he isn't doing well. I would encourage you to drop the renal diet and transition to high quality protein that is LC and low P. YA fits that bill, so if he like it, go for it.

One of the unfortunate problems with renal diets is weight loss. I am traveling now, so it is difficult to find the link, but Dr. Lisa has been critical of the commercially prepared renal diets because they are are so low in protein they can't meet the nutritional requirements of a cat. :bighug:

I am sorry things seem to be going downhill with Jones. When you tried chlorambucil (Leukeran) before, what dosing did you use? If you do a pulsed dose, just once every two weeks, plus a good amount of anti nausea drugs, usually ondansetron, nausea can be well controlled. Most vets seem to still start the EOD dosing, which causes a lot of nausea. Neko started on EOD and did did much better once she went to pulsed.
