Re: 7/3 Jinx AMPS 435

See Joe - I told you I had tunnel vision. I'm so glad I asked for advice. I've learned a lot myself today. The general feedback I'm getting is to trust the Pancreatitis board in their treatment recommendations for the liver supplement. They have a wealth of knowledge on triaditis - and its complicated. FHL on the other hand is mostly fairly straight forward. With me and my experience with FHL I see elevated liver enzymes and rush to recommend a liver supplement LOL. I'm glad I asked more questions.

I understand that when a cat is more stable, they often do recommend a liver supplement right off the bat on the pancreatitis board. So they are on top of things here which is great to know. With Jinx specifically they have the full backstory which I do not. I understand it is really important to the pancreatitis group that you don't start the denamerin until they say so. They need to see what the next labs show as you don't have biopsy results to go by (the liver component could be sterile or bacterial). There is a reason behind their recommendation which is what I was glad to hear. I'm not a member of the pancreatitis board myself. I could join, but the thing is I learn by doing. I could read things but they don't stay in my memory. It would be like reading up on feline diabetes without having a diabetic cat. I couldn't imagine dealing with Maverick's FHL, asthma and diabetes without these amazing people and dedicated groups. The CHF forum for my dog I'm sure extended her life by a year.

Give Jinx a belly rub from me :)

Re: 7/3 Jinx AMPS 435

Thanks for looking into it further, Karrie. Here was the recommendation I received on the pancreatitis board.

After posting I realized I should have been more clear on timing. Actually, if you have any intention of seeing whether an antibiotic brings down the liver numbers, I would do that (the abx) before adding in the supplements. That way you are not muddying your waters. If the liver numbers went down in response to either metronidazole or some other abx (we used a combo of Baytril and Durapen with Rufus), then you would want to know that - not be guessing as to whether it was the abx or the supplement.

I took it as more of a suggestion if I wanted to determine whether the abx had any effect on his liver values. But, if you've found that's it's important to not give the denaramin until the pancreatitis board recommends that I do, I'll hold off.

Re: 7/3 Jinx AMPS 435, +2 451

Yes, it seemed really important to hold off. I got a crash course on the causes of triaditis and the importance of knowing if the numbers respond to antibiotics. So please do hold off until the pancreatitis groups says to. Jinx isn't as sick as he could be and he's eating really well. These are all great things. You are doing an amazing job taking care of him.

Re: 7/3 Jinx PMPS 396, +2.5 277

Better late than never! I'm glad Karrie checked in and you all got the liver supplement issue worked out.

I'm hoping we see a little green tomorrow or you know who needs you know what tomorrow night ;-)

Re: 7/3 Jinx PMPS 396, +2.5 277

He better take it seriously. I've seen members get quite brutal ...yelling at my sweet Gracie as a threat

Hmmm...I might have to try that again soon.

Re: 7/3 Jinx PMPS 396, +2.5 277

47 at +5.25. I shouldn't have waited that long to test... Just gave 1tsp HC and will check in 30.

Re: 7/3 Jinx PMPS 396, +2.5 277, +5.25 47, +5.75 41

41 at +5.75. Just gave 2 tsp of HC/FF gravy. If that doesn't bring him up in 30, I'll give him 0.3mL karo.
