Yesterday's Condo

Another late night/early morning condo. I think this will be the last for a while - should get back to a normal schedule tomorrow (ok, later today).

I took Sasha in to UCD this morning at about 8:30 to drop her off for the CT scan. I had only about 3 hours sleep last night and I was exhausted, so my plan was to come home, test Cinco and go btb. Cinco, however, had other plans. When I got home and saw that +3, I set my alarm for one hour and went btb. The +4 made me move to the recliner and set the alarm for 30 minutes! So went my morning. Little cat naps between tests. I called it good at +5.5, and napped without the alarm. I actually felt a lot better when I finally woke up to a phone call from UCD.

I don't know what is up with Cinco's new pattern. A swim in the lagoon during the day, and flat blue at night. I'm not complaining - these are great numbers, but I wish I understood where they are coming from. Again, his appetite was not as good as usual this morning and a healthy dose of kitty krak was required to get him to eat. I did give him a pepcid, since we was smacking his lips again. His appy returned in the evening and there was no problem getting him to eat his dinner and later snacks.

The call was to let me know Sasha was awake and came through the anesthesia fine. They said to come get her after 5. Mark was working from home and knocked off early, so he went with me. I was glad, as he always has questions when I get home that I don't have the answers to. We met with the oncologist, Dr. Withers, a student, and the radiology oncologist that will be supervising Sasha's treatment. They told me that there were no surprises on the CT scan (YAY!). No visible tumor regrowth. They cautioned that there could be microscopic tumor cells present that the scan would not pick up. Sasha will have her first radiation treatment on Tuesday, followed by 17 more treatments on consecutive weekdays. After that, there will be a two to three week break to allow her to heal (there should be some skin irritation by the end of the treatment), and then she will begin chemo. I can't remember the details of that, and they could change depending on how the radiation therapy goes, but I believe it's 4 sessions of chemo, 7-10 days apart. They didn't put that part in the written summary, so I could be off on the spacing. We got all our questions answered, and we left feeling hopeful that we can get Sasha through this with minimal discomfort on her part. As usual, she charmed everyone there (they said she went from lap to lap this morning). Each written summary we get always includes comments on what a sweet cat she is and how the staff adores her. So do we!

I am going to try to get Sasha to her radiation sessions myself. On the days that Mark is not working from home, I figure I can put her in the backpack and crawl to the car, if I have to. I'd just prefer to have her here with us. They are flexible on the schedule - we set the time for each day's session on the day before, and pick up time can be adjusted to our schedule too, which will help if I have a doctor appointment or something. We had hoped to go down to LA to visit Mark's parents one weekend later this month, so I am going to call the lady Dr. Withers told me about and see if she can keep Sasha for the weekend and take her to her Monday session, then I would pick her up Tuesday. I don't know if we'll board Cinco and Minka, too. I have to check with my regular cat sitter first to see if she can come stay. That would obviously be preferable. We will make this work.

Again, I haven't had time to read many condos, but I hope to rectify that tomorrow. Thank you to Chris, Carla and Amy, who visited yesterday's late post. We are SOOOO excited about Trixies OTJ party! party_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

I'm glad everything went well with Sasha's scan and there were no surprises. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for her treatment. It's great they will work with you so much. Sending more hugs and prayers. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Nice numbers from Cinco. I hope he keeps giving you those great numbers.

(((Tricia))) Just popping in this morning to see if you'd given an update, I checked last night too but was in bed when you did ;-) I think you and Mark are such amazing beans with such dedication to your kitties! I know how stressed you have been feeling, and I really do think what you are doing is amazing  . And I'm glad that Sasha is being such a little trooper, what a sweetie! Many healing vines and prayers going her and Cinco (and your!) way. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I'm glad Cinco is giving you some nice blues and greens :o , they sure like to keep the beans guessing  I hope the pepcid settled his tummy down. Well, I'd better go get ready for work. I hope your toe is feeling better and that your Friday is super!!! :-D
