Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

7/28 AMPS=117, +1=122, +2.5=97; +4.5=124; +8=148
7/28 PMPS=122; +2=121; +4=97

7/29 AMPS=90; +1=113; +2=97; +3=97; +8.5=88; +10=99
7/29 PMPS=97; +2=122; +4=122

Lucy is doing OK.
Her appetite is a little better than yesterday, but wanted to be hand-fed.
But I'm giving her Wellness Turkey this morning instead of Wellness Turkey&Salmon, so that may be why she isn't so excited.
I shot a low number, so I'll be monitoring her closely.
I will test +1 and +2.

I really want to give her some digestive support, but it's hard to give her enough FortiFlora.
If I mix it in her meal, she will not eat it.
If I roll her treat in it, sometimes she would eat, but it's a hit or miss.
I visited a few pet stores and supplements stores over the weekend, trying to find a replacement, and Probiotic 8 Plus by Omega Alpha was highly recommended by one of the supplements stores, and gave me a bunch of samples to try.
This is a Canadian company, so I'm not sure if it is available in US.
If someone has used it, please let me know what you thought about it.
Can you please look at the ingredients, and see if there is anything a diabetic cat shouldn't have?
This product also has enzyme in it, and I'm not sure if it's a good idea to give her enzyme.......
The store thinks it would be very beneficial, but I'm worried about ulcers in the month.
Has anyone given any enzyme supplements to your kitties?

I also found a product called Proviable DC on line, that are sold through vets.
I'm going to ask the vet about this product, but has anyone used this?
In the FAQ section, it says this product is not recommended for a cat with suppressed immune system, so I'm not sure if this is right for Lucy.
I'm so afraid to do something and end up making it worse for her.

Any idea, suggestion, advice will be appreciated very much!!!!

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90 // PROBIOTIC & ENZYME

Hi guys .. gosh, I have absolutely no advice for you .. sorry .. but, this certainly is a nice way to start the day! Hope lucy just surfs for you! Have a great day!

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90 // PROBIOTIC & ENZYME

Hi Mariko,

FortiFlora and no-fat plain yogurt with active cultures are the only ones I am familiar with. Ann/Tess might be able to help you, however. As I recall, she has given Tess a pro-biotic called (I think) Pet Dophillus. Pearls Probiotic has also been frequently mentioned on the board here. I'm sure someone will be along to answer your questions. I give Rusty his Allerplex (for lung congestion) in Beechnut Stage 1 turkey baby food. I open the capsule, put the powder into a teaspoon or so of baby food, and add warm water to make a slurry. He likes the taste and considers it a treat. I didn't want to add it to his food because I wanted to make sure he took all the medication. (Also, I didn't want to ruin the taste of his food for him! As it turns out, I needn't have worried; he loves Allerplex!).

Nice AMPS, Lucy.

Have a fine day,

Ella & Rusty

Anybody, please?
I'd especially like to know if adding enzyme is good not not good......if anyone has any experience or information about it.

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90;+1=113;+2=97;+8.5=88 // PROBIOTIC & EN

Nice cycle for Lucy today. I also use the PetDophilus for Neko and civie Theo. Some people have tried this one and found it raised the BG's, but I haven't noticed a difference. I had to order it on line because it's not sold in the stores here.

I don't know anything about the probiotics. I hope someone can give you some advice soon. Lucy is looking good today.

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90;+1=113;+2=97;+8.5=88 // PROBIOTIC & EN

The thing that makes me nervous about the Probiotic 8 Plus is that not all of the ingredients are listed. It's important to know what you're giving a diabetic cat! The Proviable DC apparently has a "secret" list of ingredients for vets only.

Pearls is a probiotic that my vet suggested. It's a very small pill so it may be easy to have Lucy swallow it if she's easy to pill.

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90;+1=113;+2=97;+8.5=88 // PROBIOTIC & EN

I'm sorry I don't have any experience or answers with probiotics, either, but I'm glad Lucy is feeling good, and her numbers are gorgeous today!

Re: 7/29 Lucy AMPS=90;+1=113;+2=97;+8.5=88 // PROBIOTIC & EN

Hi there, looks like Lucy enjoying herself today
thanks for coming by and starting Lucky's day 1 of OTJ

Re: 7/29 Lucy PMPS=97

Thank you all very much for visiting.
Thank you, Ella, Wendy and Sienne for your insight about probiotic.

I think I'm going to keep trying some creative ways to feed FortiFlora to Lucy for now.......
I'm going to try mixing it in baby food like Ella does to give Allerplex to Rusty.....
I'll go for a baby food hunting later tonight when the supermarkets are less crowded.
I will skip Probiotic 8 Plus. I didn't realize they didn't list all the ingredients.
I'm glad I asked!!!

Lucy is doing a little better this evening than morning.
She ate more than half of her breakfast by herself.
And she had a very nice AM cycle!
I hope she'll feel even better soon.

Re: 7/29 Lucy PMPS=97;+2=122

Oh well... she came out of green....but I like 122 too.
Just as long as she doesn't go much higher.
I want to stay on this dose for a while.
I kind of like 1 unit.
It's sooo easy to measure the dose!!!!
And I can use up some syringes without 1/2 markings, which I bought by mistake a while ago.

Re: 7/29 Lucy PMPS=97;+2=122

haha...enjoy that 1 unit...I miss the easy-to-measure doses!!!!! Hope you can find some good fuds to hide the FortiFlora in to entice your little Lucy! Glad she's feeling better and eating better. Hope you have a great evening and hope Lucy surfs (safely) in some greens and blues!
