Hi all. It's been a while since I've had to come back to these boards but Chigga and I are back. She was dx with IBD a little over a month ago and was put on Prednisolone which eventually shot her right back into FD. Tonight was her first dose - I felt so clumsy. I think it went in but I'm not 100% positive.

Does anyone have any video links or tricks to make it easier to see that your actually getting the needle into your cat's skin? It's been so long I forgot how I used to do it.

Also, just wanted to say hello and I'm glad I've got a supportive group of people to talk to. I'm pretty sad about this but I'm ready to do whatever I need to do so my Chiggabutt is happy and healthy.

And hopefully her SS worked and is linking up. I started a new one since it had been so long since I'd been here.

Feeling stressed and sad.

Welcome back Erica and Chiggabutt! Sorry you're here, but glad you know this is the best place to be! I'm still fairly new, so remember watching a LOT of videos on YouTube on "How to Inject Insulin into a Diabetic Cat"

If you just do a general search using those words, all kinds of videos will pop up for you to look at, and as you watch one, others will come up along the right side to watch. I think I watched them all just in case one person had found something that nobody else had!!

Here's one I found just now...It's from the UK, and they shave the cat's neck to make it easier to see, but it should remind you fairly quickly how to do it if you're out of practice

Again, sorry you're back, but Welcome!!

I'm so sorry you and Chigga have to be back but I hope she will return to the Falls quickly. With kitties coming back from the Falls, you want to be a little more aggressive this time around in order to get her back into remission.

That's one of the better videos I've seen...thanks, Chris, for finding it.

Here's a post I did on Testing and Shooting Tips which might also have some pointers in it.

Thank you so much, Chris for your response. I just did a YouTube search and found quite a few videos. It helps to have that reference. Thank you for the video.

Erica --

Sorry to see Chigga is back but, hopefully, this will be a brief condo rental. I hope Chigga is feeling OK given the IBD.

Do you have longer needles? It may be that a longer needle will help given that it looks like Chigga has long hair.

More than happy to "pay forward" some of the help I've gotten Erica and Marje!

I hadn't seen that particular video before either, but thought it was one of the best ones I'd seen. I know shaving the cat isn't necessary, but by doing it in the video, you sure get a really clear picture of what a "tent" is supposed to look like, where to shoot within that tent and even the syringe was at the right angle.

When we first started this adventure, everyone talked about "the tent"...I had no idea what you were talking about, so the videos on YouTube were a real Godsend!!

Hope Chigga gets back to the Falls soon!!

Thanks for the link, Marje! Super helpful and this morning went quite smoothly so I think we're back in the game.

That's not a bad idea, Sienne. Luckily right now she's got a couple shaved patches from when they had to do an ultra sound and put on a pain patch so I'm using those spots right now for shooting since they are in good areas on her body.

You guys are awesome!
