yesterday's condo

Nova's actually fairly active so far today.. she usually sleeps the day away but she's been bugging me for all sorts of attention.. she needs to let me get some work done!

The argument over food continues as usual.. "Nova.. I know you don't like this food but you are fat.. you need to lose weight" "but you said I'm perfect" "and you are.. perfectly fat".. it ticks her off to no end that if she refuses to eat I just shrug at her and don't care.. as much as she's playing hunger strike.. she's the exact same weight as last week.. what an actress.

looks like nova is doing pretty well! i'm sorry you had to resort to shooting tid. it can be a grueling schedule for the bean.
have you thought about taking the dose back up in hopes of bringing down the preshot numbers?

Hey Jill .

Yeah TID can be challenging some days.. but for her it's so much better.. even after a couple months of it I'm still glowing .

I think about raising her dose a fair bit.. for the moment just going to wait it out. Nova is back on her diet.. she's refusing to eat a fair amount and then giving in.. things are going well.. she is getting enough food (have appetite stimulators on hand if she gets really bad) .. but I can't count on WHEN she'll eat.. so I can't risk her being very low at any point in her cycles.

Her mom also gives way too many cookies at test time.. so testing more = fatter cat.. bad mommy .

She got so freaking fat with me stuffing her with so much food to try to counter the BID lows (she looks like a beach ball sigh). as long as she's blue I'm pretty happy with where she's at. And she's done a *really* great job dropping on dose on her own the last 3 weeks even without me being aggressive.. maybe it's just the Nova way .

It's something I re-evaluate every day.

not being able to count on when a kitty will eat certainly does make things more of a challenge, that's for sure!

have you had any luck with giving bits of freeze-dried or boiled chicken for treats? freeze-dried is a big hit around here!

an easy way around that is to figure out her daily calorie needs and divide that amount up into small mini-meals. don't feed any more than the specified amount daily. i've actually been doing pretty well with implementing a weight loss program with alex while loading the first half of the cycle to control the curve. we're going slow, but making progress.

Freeze dried is what I give.. but I just give way too much.. because it's a big hit around here too.. and I'm a big sucker.

Yeah I measure it out.. am mixing a decent amount of water in to fill up her stretched stomach.. where her and I both get in trouble calorie wise is fancy feast appetizers and freeze dried treats .

The biggest struggle is just that she's being a real bag about when she's eating.. it's not surprising.. it's a reasonably low carb diet cat food.. even with all the fortiflora in the world on top it probably tastes like cardboard soup. It's hard to transition her to things that taste good.
