Johnny was wide awake an hour before his BG test. He came upstairs and did his busybody tactic to try and wake us up, while having us believe that we just happened to wake up. This is when he knocks things off dressers, one at a time, pauses and looks over to see if we respond. Then another item will happen to "fall" and he looks down at it for a while. These are all non-breakable things, of course, and falling onto carpet. Why am I telling you this? Well, an hour before his test this a.m., he accidentally (I really do believe it was) knocked over the lamp and scared the crap out of himself and us. He recovered almost immediately and was quite pleased to see we were awake. I'm wondering if that could be behind the 202 number or if I'm grasping at straws, I mean lamps? Anyways, we'll test again later this a.m.

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 - OTJ Trial, Day 7

OMG what a funny cat! I can just picture him knocking over things until you wake up, hahahaha!!
But knocking over the lamp is getting pretty serious now! It might become the new 'favorite' thing to knock over.

I hope Johnny's numbers come down a few hours after his breakfast. He's had that pattern so far, and I hope it continues.
Down boy, down!

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 +4.5 (235) OTJ Trial, Day 7

Ok Johnny, that's high enough for today. Good luck with your trial. I know Johnny wants it as bad as you do!

hmmmmm, let's see how the day plays out. i'm having trouble sitting on my hands. :-D
if johnny doesn't come down from there, it may be time to step in and offer a little bit of help with the tiniest dose you can measure.

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 PMBG 214 OTJ Trial, Day 7

Johnny's PMBG is 214. It looks like he's stayed pretty flat this afternoon. I'm on board for whatever you guys think is best, but it does seem like he could use a jumpstart with a bit of insulin. If you decide we should go that route, we'd do the shot around 8CT (although we're obviously very flexible since he hasn't had one recently!). So, I hope Jill or Libby or someone can chime in. If we did insulin, the trial would be aborted, right?

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 PMBG 214 OTJ Trial, Day 7

as much as I hate to say it, it does look like Johnny could use a little help. He has been going up since last night. Do you want to try to help him out with a teeny dose of insulin (the smallest drop you can measure?).

I do think it is possible that he would un-bounce without insulin, and if you would rather give it another cycle to see what happens tonight, that would not do any harm.

I don't like to use the word "aborted" when it comes to trials. I prefer "rescheduled." Johnny will be back here, soon.

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 PMBG 214 OTJ Trial, Day 7

Thanks for the feedback, Libby. Since it won't harm him to wait, we've decided to give him another night to try and clear the bounce on his own. If he's still up there tomorrow a.m., we'll do the shot (smallest amount we can measure). We're thinking if he's yellow, we'll definitely shoot. If he's blue, should we hold tight or shoot if he's above a certain number? If shoot, what cut off sounds good to you?

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 PMBG 214 OTJ Trial, Day 7

probably my cutoff would be yellow. If he was blue, I would probably try feeding and testing. Come on, Johnny, let's do it!!!

Re: 7/28 Johnny AMBG 202 PMBG 214 +3(201) OTJ Trial, Day 7

3 hours after his PM test (7:30 CT), Johnny is 201. So, going down and soooo close to blue. I think he knows the plan (if yellow tomorrow a.m....shoot...and blue...no shot) and is going to hover in a zone tonight that makes watching us more fun for him. I guess he's had enough ear pricks to earn some fun, but I hope he more than steps over the line to blue so we have no question in our minds that we know that the pancreas is back to let us know...he can really shake it now...shake it oh baby now, twist and shout...

Just calcualated that Johnny has gone 182+ hours without insulin....wow. That's a success, even if more insulin is needed. Looking on the positive side!
