At least he's in Yellow. Maybe if he gradually gets used to Yellow,Blue will come next?

I'm almost out of Lantus. Would it make sense to increase the Lantus to 1.5 for 2 doses before I switch to Levemir? Or do i just stay with 1.25 until i switch?

Are you going to switch to Levemir tomorrow morning? If you're going to be home, I would think that would be a good time to switch when you can test all day. If so, I would just stick with the 1.25 of Lantus tonight, and start with 1.0 of Levemir tomorrow. Sorry, I haven't read your other posts. Are you planning to start with 1 unit of Levemir?

@Dyana
I'm not sure what to Expect with switching to Levemir? Wendy said to start with 70% of the Lantus dose. That would be .87 So I was thinking of F.75 with the Levemir? To start out slow, to see what it's going to do. Why is the dose less with Levemir?

I read that Levemir stays in the system a bit longer than Lantus. I'm hoping it might help with Ravan's Huge Bounces. (maybe?)

I've read a few times that there can be an allergic reaction to Insulin. No one ever mentions what can happen if they do have a reaction & is there anything we can do?

I just thought doing the switch in the morning would be easier testing than starting it at night.
I don't know if Levemir is stronger. I don't think so. I know the onsets and nadirs are usually later with Levemir when compared with Lantus. I know some cats react a bit to the switch. Look at J.D.'s 2010 tab on his spreadsheet. We switched on July 9th 2010. He went from 2.50 of Lantus to 2.00 of Levemir.

Now I'm getting nervous about switching to Levemir. It seems nearly everyone is using Lantus. Is there a reason why?
Lantus has been used longer for cats than Levemir has. Most vets are familiar with Lantus, but not Lev, so most people start on Lantus. Scanning down the list of posts showing now, kitties on Lev are Gordy, Phoebe, Olive, Amethyst, Pig, Osha, Floyd. Rusty (GA) was also on Lev, as was Neko. Some kitties do well on Lantus, so stay with it.

He could still be bouncing from that long stretch of blue a few days ago. Bounces can take up the 6 cycles to resolve.
