I had high hopes that Walter was planning on a trip to the lagoon last night after he had been dropping all day - but no such luck. He's back on the trampoline.

Mandarin seems to be doing better with some Insulin. His AMPS is still pretty high, but he got into some nicer numbers over night.

Meanwhile, I am trying really hard to stop crying over the fact that he is back on the juice. I have a pit in my stomach and hardly slept, which isn't helping matters at all. Testing Walter has never been a big deal - I can set an alarm, test, feed and I am back asleep 5 minutes later. With Mandarin, it's a totally different story. I don't even know how I am going to do this once classes start back up... or if I ever have to leave town. None of my friends have ever been able to touch Mandarin and there is just no way he would let anyone else test him. He hardly eats when I am gone. Well, so much for the plan to stop crying over all of this. :arghh:

Walter and Mandarin, it's time to come on down!!!

I am so sorry for all the stress you have going on right now. I would be crying too. :bighug: I am sending vines that getting the dental will put Mandarin back into remission.

Between you and me we could probably fill Lake Michigan :bighug: :bighug: I just keep looking at that 49 Mandarin threw you not to long ago. I'm praying after his dental the juice will be gone. So wish I lived next door to you right now. If the kitts are making things more stressfulis there someone else who can foster them? I know that would break your heart too but soo much you have going on.

Hopefully once Mandarin has the dental his numbers will come back down. Paws crossed!

Yeah I feel your pain. I have the same thing with Boomer. Back when he was first diagnosed we had a 2 week trip to Maui booked for 4 weeks later. Hired a cat sitter to come in twice a day. She used to be a vet tech and had a diabetic kitty. And she called us the first day; Boomer wouldn't let her near him. There was no other solution and he went without insulin for 2 weeks. Now....well he's more used to her and she might be able to shoot (while he is eating) but chances are she wouldn't be able to test. So that's no good either.

When is Mandarin's dental scheduled? Hopefully he'll drop into better numbers (if not go directly back to life at the Falls) after the dental. I know how hard it is with a shy kitty. Marshmallow was a former feral and would hide whenever anyone else came over. Makes it hard to test and medicate when kitties are like that. I also know how stressed and upset you are, but remember it's totally not your fault. One contraband raid wouldn't have pushed him over the edge like this. You'll develop a routine with him again for t/f/s. Could you put the kits in another room while you're testing? Or would they howl and scratch the door and create chaos? Hang in there. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Me too!

Honestly, they help take my mind off of everything. They are extra work and that they are making the testing routine a bit more difficult, but they are also so sweet and cuddly and goofy, it's hard to be depressed when you're around them. And Mandarin just loves them dearly. It'll be hard enough to adopt them out eventually....

It's scheduled for Monday - less than a week away. I am very glad that they were able to fit him in so quickly. Maybe, his body won't have time to get used to these higher numbers... and, at this point, I just want to get it done.

We're already doing a bit better. He was surrounded by bouncy kittens earlier and didn't mind. I have tried putting them into a separate room - but I now know where the expression that "it's like herding cats" is coming from. They are pretty much impossible to contain. As soon as I get the second one in there, they first one darts back out.

I just feel so bad that you're feeling so stressed. And sending all sorts of light, and vines, and prayers that the dental takes Mandarin back off the juice.
