Bear with me - first time posting in Lantus...New diabetic cat owner too.
Nate was 90 at his dinner time 7:30pm. I fed him (I think that was the wrong choice? but with 6 hungry cats feeding time is not negotiable!). At 9pm he is up to 155.
I screwed this up again, didn't I? I am on such a routine that I get flustered when things don't go as planned.
Was I supposed to skip his dinner? Do I shoot him earlier in the morning? I won't be home after 8am tomorrow, so there's no point in giving him insulin now...Right?

I’m pretty new here too, so I’m not the best person to give you advice, but if it were me I would just skip tonight so you can get back on the right time tomorrow before you have to leave.

When you get a low PS don’t feed and retest in 15 min. If the number is up it’s probably safe to shoot, if you will be home to monitor.(depending on how low) I would still get on here and ask for advice. You don’t want to feed because the food will make his numbers come up, but they can go down quickly when the food wears off.

I understand about feeding not optional. When I get home you would think it had been days since any of them had eaten. If/when this happens again can you separate Nate from the other cats so you can feed them without him eating?

Hopefully someone with more experienced will reply soon and help you. They are usually very prompt to help. You might put something like “Need Dose advice ASAP” to draw more attention.

Thanks! I knew I did that wrong... Nate already is separated from the others to eat. He'll howl if I feed the others and not him, but it's a small price to pay. I will try to remember to do that next time.
