No AMPS today but +2 was 353. He followed me in from the kitchen with really droopy eyes so I was thinking he was hypo a bit and he must just be tired. Not hypo at 353.

I hope that he feels better today, Peggy. I have my fingers crossed for good #'s today for you both. (Pssttt... Mickey... I have every confidence that you can give your Mommy good #'s today. It's ok... You can do it!! Your friend, Blackie)

Awww, hope he has perked up by now. If you can get a couple more data points, like a nadir & PS in the same cycle, and you are seeing a U-curve with a nadir above maybe 150, I would consider a dose raise. Looks like you've been at this dose a few days now and no sign of progress, though I would want a couple more tests to verify that.

Hope you are both having a nice day! :-D

I'm guessing he needs a dose increase, but I would only feel confident on that, based on how low he goes at nadir..which we don't know.

Can you get any mid point readings?- any at all helps see the pattern over time. One day a +2 and +10; one day a +4 and +6. etc .

Or if you work how about a weekend curve every 2-3 hrs for a full cycle.

If strip cost is a concern, the Maxima from Hocks is the most economical at .30/strip. Relion is .36-.40/strip. Both are fine.

Nancy, I am not trying a woah is me but...I only have off on the weekends every 14 weeks....Yes my job sux. I have to do better with Mickey and I am trying but the job is in my way...

Hi Peggy,

Boy do I get the work thing. But hey, we are the lucky ones who have jobs with so many people looking for work.

We're all just doing the best we can. Test when you can. Ask questions when you have them. Reach out if you want help.

We're all floating in the same boat here and we're not about to let one of our own go down without a fight.

We're here for you if you want.

Nancy, just FYI he seems to be a tough sell on the testing front, that's why Peggy hasn't been able to squeeze more data out of him...

Peggy, I hope he is feeling better soon!!!! If he is not eating well, I would call your vet in the morning and also post on Health for suggestions (and here, but there's more traffic there). It's imperative that diabetic cats eat, so something to be on top of more so than with a civie.

Also do you check his pee regularly for ketones? If not I would definitely start.

just in case you don't already know (sorry if you do, I have lost sight of who is testing or not) and no one is around, you want KetoStix, or there's another one, Diaketostix (?) or something - they are at pretty much any pharmacy either near the diabetes stuff or sometimes you have to ask at the pharmacy counter - you want any stix that test for ketones in the urine - then you just stick one in while he's peeing, every day if you can...
