Good Morning LL ~O)
It has been quite exciting around here this morning, I wasn't expecting that 47 :o But we handled it like pros thanks to all your great training :-D Hoot is good, all 5 P's are good too.I do have something I want to share tho. I had picked up a couple of cans of Soulistic not knowing the carb count, but when I got home I checked it on the list and the ones I got were HC, so I just thought I'll keep them for when I need it. This morning I needed some HC so I opened a can of the Soulistic Good Karma Chicken Dinner, 19% carb.....and it was the exact same food as the Paw Lickin Chicken :o  And I mean the exact!!! So now I'm thinking is it 3% Weruva or 19% Soulistic? I really believe the Paw Lickin was spiking Hoots Bg. Is it that same food??? So I just gave him the old standby FF Gravy. I checked out the labels and they are the same also. Product of Thailand???? I'm just so confused on the food and now a little distrustful. I just wanted to let you all know so you could make your own decisions. Jeeeze, now what food will I feed???
Sending out ♥Vines♥ to all in need :YMHUG:
Thanks for the visits yesterday :-D
Have a great day LL :YMPEACE:

Oh, Pam, that is disturbing. As I sit here with two cases of PLC and chicken Frick A zee. Does the Soulistic says grain free also?

Wish I could just go back to LCFF, everyone liked it and BG seemed to be lower on it.

Nice numbers for Hoot!!

Jane

There are a couple of things that don't make sense to me about the Soulistic. On their website, they show only canned food. However, if you open up the nutritional analysis, they also show information regarding pouches and the analyses are slightly different for the Good Karma chicken. I'm also really suspicious of their calorie count. It's different than the calories on Dr. Lisa's list. On the Soulistic site, ALL of their food is 54 calories. I think that's way too low and it can't be correct if every single variety of food is 54 calories. (The calories for Weruva are the same on their website and on Dr. Lisa's list.)

Jane
Yes, Soulistic says grain free. I was so close to buying 2 cases of Paw Lickin online until I gave him those 2 cans and his BG went so high, both days. But then when this happened???? I don't know who to believe  What I do know is ECID and if Cleo's #'s are good then maybe it's ok for her.

Sienne
I just don't know who to believe. Because if I believe Weruva that it's 3%, then why did Hoots BG go so high, if I believe Soulistic, then why is there such a discrepancy in the 2 brands. And why are their labels so similar?? Maybe it's a different recipe, but man....it sure looked the same!!

Hi, Jane, and yikes!

FWIW, I was in recent contact with Dr. Lisa (regarding the Merrick recipe changes) and she mentioned that it was an absolute nightmare compiling the info for her lists; she had to be extremely persistent for some of the companies to give her nutritional values, and when they gave her info, she had to go by their word (who knows how accurate...). Plus pet food companies are continually 'tweaking' their recipes and ingredients. The companies' own labels and websites may not even be accurate. So, who knows the real values at any given time for any given pet food product? Unfortunately, few to no one. So frustrating for people like us who NEED to know exact values of what their kitties (and other pets) are eating...

Sorry to vent on your condo :? ...

I'm so glad you caught Hoot's drop at +2.75 ~ way to be ON it, Pam :-D :-D !

I hope you guys are having a great Caturday! :-D

You can vent on my condo anytime you want ;-)
I actually slept in this morning a little, good thing I didn't sleep any later nailbite_smile
Good info on the cat food. I kinda figured that was the story, and like we all say "ECID" We just have to pay attention to our babies and how they react to a certain food. It's just so frustrating thinking you can trust a company. I bet if the Food Companies CEO's had sugar babies we'd get accurate info!
Thanks for stopping by Josie, and you too have a great Caturday!

Good job handling that 47! Hoots numbers look nice. As for the nutritional discrepancies, I hate deceitful people. :-x I don't understand why it is so hard to give accurate, truthful nutritional information. Not to be overly dramatic and all, but kitty lives are at stake here. :-x cat(2)_steam

Ok, happy, positive thoughts now...Have a wonderful Caturday!

What a big surprise for your mama this morning Hoot!

Pam! I just ordered a case of paw lickin chicken and Bob likes it! Nooooooo! I'm scared! I talked to a really nice lady at the company last week and she ASSURED me it was actually less than 3%. I haven't noticed it raising his bg, but honestly, I never really paid attention. I also feed Bob the peking ducken which is 9%, but I think since we changed from the dry food, pretty much anything is better.

I've been researching cat food and honestly, I'm about to drive myself insane. I read Dr. Lisa's site so I've been trying to avoid fish in their food and I'm finding it in a lot! Also, I was trying not to do too much liver, but finding that a lot too, then read about guar gum and carrageenan, the % of water, etc. I was getting dizzy!

Well, I' going to call weruva on Monday and see what can find out! Not that they would tell me if something sneaky is going on...

I know, I can't tell you how shocked I was to see the same food in the Soulistic can  Especially after reading the warm fuzzy story about how Weruva got started. I guess we just have to take all of their (cat food companies) nutritional values and just consider them starting points (thanks to Dr Lisa for all her hard work!!)
If our cats do good, great...if not...next
  This is kind of a ranting condo today   Feel free
Have a wonderful Caturday too Deborah, and thanks for your comments ;-)

I know, my 3 cats loved it!! I am so disappointed  But like I said, if it's not spiking Bob's BG, then go for it! It just really shot Hoots thru the roof :o and thats the only thing I can attribute it too. Keep us posted on what Weruva says....or what they don't say
Thanks Dara for stopping by :-D

Hoot! A 47? REALLY? Where'd u get that slide? Mama needs to make it a bit less steep huh.... :-D At least she found the steps back up for you!

Pam - Peadoodle on the food. Thought I'd share something that happened here too. FFeast Beef pate is LC on all the lists, other sugar cats eat it just fine. Some days KT would ZOOM for no apparent reason...after a couple of times, I started paying attention to what I'd fed him - it was FFeast Beef pate each time. So, for KT, FFeast beef pate stays in our MC lineup....I give it to him to hopefully keep him surfing when he dives.

BIG HUGS!!

Yep, thats what I say...ECID And we just have to watch what happens with new food. I just really loved that food and they did too, Oh well, back to the drawing board. He's actually been eating the new Merrick Grammy's Pot Pie because I ordered 2 cases thinking I would get the old stuff but I got the new. He seems to do fine on it so I may just stay on it...I don't know
Thanks for stopping by Lyresa and thanks for sharing, I think it's good info we all have to share :-D
