Re: 7/27 - Cleo - AMPS (187)
Hi Kathy
Nice to see a blue AMPS for Cleo, I hope she has a great cycle today. As for the poop question: Pumpkin is an option, and I believe quite a few members have used it (though we haven't), so I'm sure they'll chime in. It can in fact help with *both* diarrhoea *and* constipation - pretty useful, at that. Have you considered trying to help Cleo with a probiotic? One that's very popular on the FDMB is "Fortiflora", I think it's made by Purina. Again, we've never had to use one, but I know many here who have, and I'm sure if you have questions they'll answer them. Actually, our cats like yoghurt, I guess technically they *do* occasionally get probiotics in the form of live cultures  One other thing that can help is increasing hydration a bit. You could do that by adding some water to Cleo's wet/canned food. If Cleo is a bit dehydrated, that could have slowed down her LB action - have you checked her skin for dehydration (tenting it and seeing how it "snaps" back)? Just a thought. I've seen a few mentions of this
Feline Constipation Website around FDMB and have read a bit there myself, which was useful just to get a few bits of information (though bear in mind that it's written by a layperson, not a vet, just for the record).
I know that our cats don't poop daily - sometimes they'll wait a day, sometimes even two days in between, without having anything wrong - just to alleviate your concern. It doesn't *have* to mean there's something to worry about. A lot of cats don't necessarily void their bowels each day. See what you think about these suggestions, k?
I'm sure others will also pitch in with more ideas.
Have a good day!
Jane
