1st cycle on 13 units.

The 10% or less kcal from carbs guideline, is that just for diabetic cats or does that apply to all cats? If just for diabetics, what's the recommended max for civvies? I'm looking for alternatives for the fuzzball that provide the same calorie content and need to determine my search parameters.

One diabetic cat was enough for me. I keep my civies food under 10% and usually more around 5% carbs. After learning that I had no idea how to take care of a cat before Doodles dx, cats don't need carbs. ;)

It's OK, but not ideal, to feed occasional higher carb food to civies. Cats are obligate carnivores and their systems are not build to deal with the carbs. I found it much easier to feed the same food to all cats in the house. At least that was in the day before IBD/allergies reared it's ugly head. :rolleyes: That way you don't need to worry about the diabetic kitty stealing from the other bowl.

I e-mailed the vet over the weekend to ask about starting Chino on cabergoline. Haven't heard back, so I called this afternoon. They took a message and I'm waiting for a call back. I know that the odds are against him, but as long as there's a remote possibility that it will help, I want to give it a shot.

Just got 75 for the +4. I didn't retest because we were already almost 10 minutes late - when I called him to get tested, he decided to use the litterbox instead. Gave 2 tsp HC 20% gravy with his +4 meal, retesting at +4.5.

PMPS=315 (3rd meal LC 5%)
[2nd cycle on 13 units Lantus]
+2 = 244
+4 = 75 (4th meal LC 5% + 2 tsp HC 20% gravy)
+4.5 = 57 (2 tsp HC meat/gravy + 5 gtt Karo)

WOW. Next check at +5.

+5 = 56/AT2:95 (Same)

Looks like the intervention at +4.5 stopped him from dropping, but I want him to be above 60 when it wears off, so I fed the same at +5. Next check at +5.5. If it brings him to 65 or higher, I'll repeat and try to get an hour of sleep before the next test. If not, I'll repeat and stay up for a +6.

The 2nd round brought him to 68, so the 3rd round should kick him up to the high 70s/low 80s by +6. I'm taking a small dose of meds and setting 3 alarms on 2 devices for a +7.
