Good evening,

I didn't post for a few days but I will try give an update:

Still we are not absolutely sure where Binies high numbers of leucocytes come from. I handed in some urine on monday but it seems I f*** it up. :banghead: On wednesday evening I got an e-mail, that the lab couldn not get a clear result because there was some kind of contamination. I felt really bad about that as I did my best to prep everything as neat and clean as possible. I really don't know what went wrong. Unfortunately I couldn't get my vet at the phone this week and she just adivsed me to give an antibiotic to Binie which is used a lot with skin issues (Cleorobe).

Binies wound on her breast got worse and I think she suspects that this is the reason for the inflammation. But it is all guessing and try and error now and I am not happy with the situation. She already told me that this antibiotic causes diarrhea and so we have to see, if Binie can take it for the recommended week. Today is day three and she already got loose stool after the first day. We'll see how far we come. Unfortunately it is a big capsule and I have to give it in several pill pockets kneaded together. She takes it like that but it spikes her bg a lot. I also try to prevent the diarrhea from getting worse with some probiotic which got corn starch in it. Maybe that also has an effect.

So her bg is not great and she is not seeing many good numbers. On the other hand her average bg during the cycles is still lower than it used to be the month before. And even though you wouldn't think that looking at her bloodwork, she seems to feel quite alright. Seeing that, makes the situation a bit easier again.

I think about increasing again on monday but we will have some hot days next week and that makes me a bit anxious.

I read a lot about CKD this week and got some helpful advice in the thyroid group to regulate her better. Next thursday we are going to the vet again and I hope she can answer some of my many questions.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, you’re doing such a wonderful job with Binie. There are many concurrent things going on and it’s very hard to find the balance and get answers.

If her wound is worse that makes sense for the inflammation and I would think they need to try to treat that to reduce the inflammation.
It’s good you’re giving the probiotics to try to help with any loose stools. Hopefully that will try to balance out the antibiotic.

It’s good you got some answers from the thyroid group and hopefully balancing some of that with tweaking dosages might help overall.
And by the way, just because the urine was contaminated doesn’t mean it was anything that you did. I think anytime you do a free catch It’s not a sterile situation, so that’s not your fault.
I’m glad to hear that despite everything that’s going on Binie is in good spirits and I’m sure that has to do with. She feels secure and happy with you. So try to remember how much she loves you❤️❤️

Good luck at the vet appointment this week and keep us posted. I hope you can try to have a relaxing night and get some rest.
Sending you both hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much for your kind words Staci! I know you are already so experienced in handling all these different health conditions at once. This complexity is new to me and really overwhelming. Thank you also for mentioning, that the contamination in the urine was maybe not my fault but can happen. I felt I messed up her chance, to get a proper diagnosis. Hopefully the antibiotics work and my vets guess was right. I send many hugs to you and sweet Ivy! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
