ohmygod_smile Stinky Pinkies and worse, when you look at Tiger's chart, she's visited the red dress of shame as well! ohmygod_smile
appetite is pretty good, peeing, pooping, playing and even purring. Lately, she jumps on our bed every morning, wants to purr and play. I finally made contact with the vet who performed the radio-iodine treatment, though she did not call me personally, it was her assistant. Per her orders, Tiger will be taking 1mcg. levothyroxin compound 1x and be re-tested in 4 weeks. Problem, I am having trouble getting it down her. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also advised by Dr.Vaughn(the feline thyroid specialist) even though Tiger is early stage CDK/hypothyroid not to change her diet at this time;she will remain on Purina DM since that is what she eats willingly. I explained to both my regular vet Dr.Peterson and Dr.Vaughn that I am trying to incorporate small amts of Wellness, they don't seem to think it's important yet. Oh and RE: Tiger's BG's of late, I acknowledge this is the result of a failed reduction early in July catching up with us, but hopefully with increases we can get back on track; and I do test religiously for ketones.

I want to send out tons of healing vines and I continue to pray for all who need them, especially to Lucy and Mariko;Wendy and Tiggy and Amy and her dad. OT I also got some good news yesterday, my DM called me the other day,I get worried when she calls mid-day, it's usually not good...My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago. She just saw her oncologist and the tumour is shrinking and almost gone! She has lost weight, but the side effects of the tamifloxin ( sp?) have been pretty minimal and she feels good! Upon first being diagnosed, her doctor said she might live a year or two, so this is not bad for 88! So I guess what I'm trying to say is, even when things seemed so hopeless, sometimes a miracle does exist, so never lose hope and faith because only God knows what is going to happen!

Have you tried pill pockets for the levothryoxin? Before Trix developed the p-titis in April, she LOVED pill pockets rolled in FortiFlora, and getting her BP pills into here was no problem at all. Now that she has an aversion, I use a #3 gelcap - it contains her 2 BP pills and her pepcid, and the all go down in one fell swoop (some days easier than others). The nice thing about the gelcap is that it "shields" the kitties from the yucky bitter taste of the pill itself.

Have a wonderful evening, Ruth!!

That is wonderful news. Funny, I just wrote and asked you about starting something for Tiger.I want to second the gel caps. I use the size 3 and 4 all the time and chase them with baby food which Max loves and will lick off the plate.

Thanks Ladies!

Amy, My fussy eater ate around the pill pocket and spit out the seed when I first tried to give her Tapazole for hyperthyroid. So I tried to be smart when the vet said she needed levothyroxine and had the pharmacy make up a compound. But I can't get her to open up and swallow it. ohmygod_smile And I will keep you and your dad in my prayers, more than ever now, those positive vibes really help!

Elise, funny, I just read your PM! And if I can't get her to take the liquid compound, I'll have them give me pills and try gelcaps. Have a great night!

I was going to suggest the compounded liquid. Just be sure, if you go that route, that they do not add any sweeteners even artificial like maltodextrin.

Sometimes when they earn a lot of reductions too quickly, you have to go back up and some times higher than the last breakthrough dose. Let's hope she breaks through here quickly.

I'm glad you got good news on your DM. How are YOU feeling?

Marje, oh no, I don't think I remembered to question and make sure the compound is sugar free!!! It is chicken flavored, do you think it's okay or should I take it back?

I feel like a giant weight was lifted off my shoulders regarding DM! She wasn't given a lot of hope early on, so when she called the other day, I was really sure it was something bad, imagine my surprise! Thanks for your support!

It's possible it has sweetener in it. Gus's were flavored and had added sweetener. Gracie's ursodiol has no sweetener in it at all but my vet had to write the script that way.

Tiger - green dresses are much prettier than pink ones!

Neko gets her bupe compounded with chicken flavor and it doesn't impact her BG. She loves it, makes it much easier to give the bupe. I've had to give the plain and that's more effort.

Great news on your DM's tumor! And that she's feeling good. :-D

Ruth:

Yay on the good news from your DM! LL needs more good news - there's been so much sadness and worry lately. Thanks for sharing your happiness with us! :-D

Some of my cats eat the pill pocket and spit out the pill, too. Are you using a whole pocket? I find I have better luck if I only use enough of it to cover the pill/capsule. When the pockets fail, I either use a pill popper or I throw the pill down the cat's throat by hand. Neither is fun, but with luck, it works. I often follow with a squirt of water from a syringe, to make sure they swallow.

Sending good pill popping vines and some sliding vines, too.

Where have you been? I hope all is well. This is the most recent condo I found in my quick look and your ss isn't updated. Hoping Tiger is recovering from that bounce and you and your husband are okay.
